Zoo Med Wood Tortoise House

I love it it is very well made and very durable and my tortoises love it gives them lots of space to roam around and its not to big to bring inside the house

Order for my hatchling sulcata tortoise. It doesnt all sit right but my fiance was able to get it sturdy to where its all holding together. I have another one i use for my Russian tortoise as well. Iv had it for 3 years now and its holding up amazing as well!!

For the price, this hutch is excellent. Not super-sturdy, but Im not gonna be tossing it on the back of a truck and driving across the country....so.. yeah, its a great indoor home for my little tortoise this winter!

Very disappointed . The wood falls apart way too easy. Should have had it built then buying this . Not worth the money !!

Maybe I had too high of expectations here but I wasnt extremely pleased with the quality. As I put it together (took two of us about 30 minutes with a drill), the pieces did not line up right, there were knots in the wood which didnt allow some screws to go all the way in and the sliding end piece is fairly loose. I will need to seal the wood before use but I imagine itll last a few years..hopefully.

EDIT: Id like to change my rating to just one star. After having this product a mere month the wood has started to split and break off into pieces. Im pissed. Poor Quality, all around. First I had to change the latches, and now the wood is just breaking off. I wish I could get a refund. Save your money, you could easily make this at home for a fourth the price. Nice design but really a poor product . Its not secure!! This is for an outdoor tortoise the thing wobbles if you push on it. The latches on mine were drilled (by the company not me) on the wood in a way so that the wind could knock the damn thing open. The covered section has a latch on one side only and if you push the other side you can get it open a good 6+ inches. I paid a lot of money for something that in order for me to use it for what its intended for Im going to have to go to the hardware store and purchase additional latches and screws Im not a happy Costumer at all! I would return it if I didnt think it was such a hassle to do so. The 2 stars is for the design. I want to nota a lot of people said they rated it lower for its lack of windows or clear sides so the tortoise could socialize with them. I wanted to say I commend this company for NOT making the sides see though and for giving the tortoise an entire section where it can hide from human interaction. Tortoises dont understand glass, or plastic. If they can see through it they think they can walk through it. And they will continuously bang their heads against the plastic/glass trying to walk through it. I had a tortoise a while ago that gave himself a nasty bump on his head because of this, he lived in a glass aquarium. So 2 stars for the concept But this enclosure doesnt keep anything enclosed unless youre willing to spend some extra money & time fixing it up.

It comes disassembled, but very easy to put together. No drilling necessary, because the wood screws will cut a thread into the wood while you are screwing it in. The wire mesh is nice and thick, but the spacing is too wide, which can allow rats or mice to get into the tortoise house and chew on your pet. What I did was cut a square piece of hardware cloth with a spacing of 1/2 inch, placed it over the existing wire mesh and secured it with zip ties. This tortoise house is big enough for Egyptian tortoises, Russian tortoises, and of course hatchling tortoises of almost any species.

OK -- I had really high hopes for this, but should have paid more attention to the negative reviews. This is very poorly made. Screw holes -- of which there are few -- were stripped, panels were not flush, and the screen does not stay in place, with grooves in the wood present to indicate it had been pushed or ripped out of its frame. Had I not already put the thing together before realizing the extent of the issues, Id have sent it back. As it is, Ive used my own fixes to make it work because I just cannot be bothered taking it apart and trying to return this. It is a very nice idea -- space wise, concept-wise, its very cool. But that is pretty much all you are paying for -- the idea, not the materials and not the quality. I left packaging feedback indicating that the box was quite worn and held together by tape. Possible this was something already returned and resold to me? Perhaps, as it would explain much. But this tells you something also.

I got it as a gift for my daughter-in-law and her turtle pickle . Have been told the little guy loves it!
