Zoo Med Wood Tortoise House

Tortoise loves her new home. A little disappointed that the door hinge broke off already

The material of the wood is good quality. The instruction on how to build it are easy. its big enough for the size of my turtle and possibility for 3 more years after that. The top of the boxes didnt fit well together so it kinda hard to open one without opening the other but it isnt much of a big deal. overall satisfied.

This item was very difficult to build for the following reasons. 1. The predrilled holes did not line up correctly with the wood sections. 2. Some of the screws needed were missing. 3. The directions were unclear. 4. The wood is very weak and splits easy making the screws impossible to work. I returned the product requesting a refund. I paid $80.00 for this item, but only received $65.00. for the refund. I guess you pay for what you get, but you dont always get what you pay for.

Fitment wasn’t perfect, took a bit of work to line it up. I think is going to suit the needs of my Russian well though!

recieved this item the box was ripped open the wood peices on the ends was broken made of cheap material now i have a tortoise and nothing to put it in and the next one i ordered wont be her until the 11th

It is great. Being that Torterra, my small Sulcata tortoise, likes to see us, I made holes n 2 sides and put n plexiglass. I also made my own small sleeping area to give her more room to move about. It is now perfect!

Zoo Meds Tortoise House is the largest commercially available enclosure, and that alone earns it a star. Also, it is made of wood- the preferred housing when keeping tortoises indoors. Putting it together was a cinch and took me maybe half an hour. My only qualm is the quality of the wood itself. Its comprised of unsound pressed wood, with dubious moisture repelling ability. To remedy this, I used Tall Earth Eco-Safe wood treatment. I have yet to add anything to the enclosure, as the treatment is still drying and airing out beforehand. I do like the built in hidebox and basking area with metal grating. The design is great! Lets see if the workmanship holds up to the idea. ** To note, this enclosure is intended to be used to house a small group of juvenile Russian tortoises and will be added to in order to properly accommodate their growth and need to roam. I would not recommend this house for anything larger than a single tortoise 6 in diameter or less. Would be excellent for a single adult male Russian or hatchlings of various species.

I ordered these and the hardware was rusted. I previously ordered 2 others and they came in perfect condition , very disappointed.
