Worked well for just over a month. Lots of useful features, FAST, great range, can update firmware to Merlin or DD-WRT. I’m going to troubleshoot problem with ASUS tech support (router is past return window) and will upgrade this review accordingly.

now I have a strong wifi signal everywhere compared to my previous router. Easy to use, with plenty of ethernet ports. It feels of high quality and able to handle several devices at the same time (both wifi and ethernet)

I mainly bought this for 2.5gbps port, WAN aggregation (1+1gbps) and Wifi6. Asuswrt is probably one of the most flexible firmware out there. Wifi 6 is packed with modern wifi tech which is totally worth it if youre located in an apartment complex because so much wifi signal is roaming around. The traffic monitor is also excellent, allowing me to narrow down bandwidth hogging devices with ease. My only regret is not upgrading to Wifi 6 sooner. I cant believe how much I was missing out in terms of speed and stability. 5/5 stars.

This thing is rock solid. Seriously. Coming from a Netgear Nighthawk R9000 that would constantly drop signal, this RTAX88U is a big win. More ports, AX wifi for future devices, and holy cow the interface is night and day compared to Netgears. Would recommend in a heartbeat.

Data speeds increase with distance. When closer the speeds are lower than when you are far. Blazing speeds. I highly recommend this Router.

Hooked it up and worked great with everything; desktop, laptop, iphones, 3 tvs, arlo, and ooma phone system, in the house. However, would not work with one laptop...found the issue was the new wifi-6 (802.11ax) not compatible with older PCs and some boards. There is a feature to disable this standard in the settings, and it is noted that it could be an issue. Disabled the new standard and now the last laptop works great.

I’m a fan of ASUS routers and had high hopes withe the AX 88U with the excellent reviews the “pro” reviewers have given it so far but that is as far as it goes as I have had the 88U for two days and with Amazon support and ASUS support , I can not get more then 50 MPs on the 2.4 band. No matter what setting we change the 2.4 band speed and distance we’ll... sucks. The 5gb band is a lot better in speed but not as good as my older ASUS 3100 router does. I’m going to give ASUS support one more try later today and if we can’t fix it it’s going back to amazon.

Bought this router after suffering through years of using my ISP-provided router (AT&T Pace 5268ac).

This is my third ASUS router that I’m returning. Under performing, low WiFi range, unstable connectivity and weak signal. I think it’s more suitable for small apartment not a house unlike the description.

This Asus wireless router is literally a beast. If you are not a network engineer nor understand product procurement process then you wont fully appreciate the build quality and the extensive engineering gone to develop this Asus product. First and foremost make sure you update the firmware right out of the box. This product is a game changer and the quality of signal and the processor aka CPU is super powerful. This product is worth every dollar theres nothing like it out there.
