> 3 dayI bought this AX88U during the pandemic, to provide faster better wifi coverage at home. I replaced my old router, connected to gigabit fiber ethernet service, and found that every 2 weeks or so the internet connection dropped, and only restarting the router fixed the problem. I blamed the problem initially on my VPN service provider, which was running openvpn from the router. But working with them, it became apparent that my ISP, every 2 weeks or so, performs a DHCP release, and the AX88U does not reconnect. My old Netgear router does. Searching internet, I see lots of other people have this problem, and ASUS has not fixed it; or worse they blame the ISP. So dont bother buying this router, unless you just want to run it as in access point mode (which does not have DHCP running).

> 3 dayThe box says that there should have been a quick start manual in the box. There wasnt. There were no instructions aside from a one page insert telling me to plug in the modem and go to router.asus.com. At first, it loaded up a quick start page, and I connected to the internet and set up wireless. But then the router.asus.com site it says to go to in order to use the routers settings didnt load. The router has no idea what that site is supposed to connect to. And there was no manual in the box to provide some assistance for this ridiculous problem, and there is no standalone modem settings software.

> 3 dayHad an earlier version ASUS router that was reliable but couldn’t keep up with the amount of connected devices. This one is able to but needs to be rebooted regularly as it loses internet connectivity otherwise.

Greater than one weekThis is a great router with plenty of features. Lots of ethernet ports, you can setup the AiMesh if you want even more coverage. Compared to other consumer routes I have owned, ASUS usually blows them all away in terms of feature set and UI. I flashed the Merlin firmware on it to get even more control, and I have had issues such as the either the 2.4Ghz or 5Ghz wifi crashing, and weird connection issues with games. I have not figured out whether that is the 3rd party firmware or the router, so I wont hold it against ASUS. I keep Merlin for the additional features it adds, but if youre not into that or not comfortable with that by all means keep the stock firmware provided by ASUS. It is great and does everything and more for the average user!

> 3 dayThe router delivers excellent stability and speed. It runs perfectly with all my busy DS918+ NAS, desktops and a number of mobile devices. No lags happened while my desktop was uploading stuffs to my NAS and playing an online game at the same time.

> 3 dayGiving this a one star rating for support only. Logs, configuration files, etc. supplied to support. Three weeks in and absolutely no intelligent response or suggestion.

> 3 dayI returned this because it would not keep the upstream Internet connection for more then a few hours without needing to reboot. I have an ASUS RT-AC68W that works fine with the same connection so just returned to using that. I was going to combine them in an AI-Mesh network but just figured out another way to go with this.
