> 3 dayThis is half an inch too wide for my windows which I realize is not a flaw exactly but... why? Even 12,000 BTU air conditioners usually top out at 24” wide but this little fan is 26. Many pre-war homes have smaller windows so theyre leaving out a lot of potential customers. I ended up buying the Sharper Image one but their newer model is also 26” so I guess Im out of luck if and when it breaks.

> 3 dayBecause the 4th video states they installed their fan vertically the instructions warn you not to do it. Because that video showed it vertically, I purchased this item. Now I have to go thru the trouble of taking it to a UPS store 45 miles away to return it!!! Otherwise, I believe it would have been a great fan!!!

> 3 dayI like this fans features, and its dimensions. From a security standpoint, I have it mounted into a single-hung window, and the window is secured with a locking device. With its low profile, even if someone were to push the unit out of the window from the outside, the opening is too small to crawl through. I like the mounting system of variably sized foam pads that fill the gaps between the unit, and the window. The only drawback with the pads is that some of the corners are slightly rounded, resulting is some small gaps that small insects could pass through. I stuffed a small cotton ball into each gap, taking care of the problem. The remote has been working well, which is good, as I have limited access to the front of the unit. My headline, being great for smaller rooms is that the unit, while pushing a good deal of air for its size, is a touch too small for the room I have it in. I use the unit to blow cool outdoors air into our living room after the outside temperature is lower than the indoor temperature. Our living room is about 400 sq. ft. with a vaulted ceiling. The unit certainly helps cool down the house, at the cost of taking a long time. We leave the unit on overnight, and turn it off when the inside-outside temperatures equalize.

> 3 dayOn the positive side the fan is very quiet and it fits well in my window. It allows me to leave the window only about 4 inches open which means I can put stoppers on the window and keep anyone from breaking in. The negatives, however, outweigh the positives. Even on high, the fan barely moves any air. A light breeze outside and an open window will do more. The controls are also impossible to see during the day. I had to wait until nighttime to setup the fan direction and speed, and then just turn it on and off during the day. The remote control is no help either. It only intermittently works, the buttons are in the wrong places (the up is on the right and the down is on the left). And the temperature mode and fan direction mode buttons are reversed. The button with the thermometer (bottom) controls the fan direction, and the one with the odd direction symbol (top) controls the temperature setting. Update on the air flow: It turns out the slider that determines the airflow direction was stuck half way. I disassembled the unit and manually moved it all the way in one direction, and now the airflow is quite good.

> 3 dayI grabbed this after being interested in the smaller design and good reviews, as my Holmes dual window fan was old and falling apart, literally. However.. I am not that impressed with this. It was a pain to install, and I am waiting for it to eventually fall out of the window.. but DISCLAIMER... I live in a historic building in San Francisco, so I have old windows... is no slot for the fan to fit in., is just the wooden window ledge, and thats it.. drops right down to the exterior concrete ledge, Also, the bottom of the window isnt flat, it is angled for some reason, so it doesnt clamp down. I assume anyone with modern windows wont have an issue at all with this. It is a bit louder than I had expected, especially while on exhaust, it is actually a bit louder than my Holmes dual-window fan, as it makes like a rubbing type of sound when running, though it might go away...it is quiet, but enough to annoy me. I do voice-over and narration, so one of the selling points of this was being able to run it while recording, which I cant do with my current fan. I dont know if it will get picked up or not by my mic yet. The lowest fan speed also seems too strong. However, this is most likely from being used to the dual-fan, but the lowest setting on this fan is equal to the high setting on my holmes, so getting hit with a lot more air than used to.. which I am sure will be great in summer, but right now, I wish I could just turn the speed down a bit more. WHile exhaust is an option, it is a lot louder, and I assume that is from air blowing off the window ledge, as I have very long ledges. The temperature control is very accurate. As far as Alexa, it wouldnt sync via the barcode, had to hold down the power button until the light flashed, then it found it and connected, but since, it just says device unresponsive. I reset the fan (power and fan direction for 6 seconds) and connected it back to Alexa, which worked again, but then it right away went back to device unresponsive...

Greater than one weekYes, the motor can run the fan blade in revese, except the unit functions very poorly in reverse. If it were easy to remove the squirrel cage fan blade, flip it left to right & reinstall it; it could provide reverse and function optimally. Except doing this would likely damage the bearings and ruin the quiet opperation. A beutiful fan, but does not function as advertized.

> 3 dayI found this to be an easy installation with an easy setup and get it going right away. It is quiet, however, the amount of air it moves is not really that impressive. We live in the desert where I am trying to take advantage of getting cool air in the night to give the AC a break. This is good for a bedroom, but limited to that.

Greater than one weekIT IS QUIET! It MOVES AIR. The panel lights dim out. The remote is quiet & functional. Very little light leakage! No visibility through the fan. I returned several window fans in the $45 range: noisy, bright lights, no privacy, light leakage, noisy remote. Bottom line: this is the one for your bedroom window. Con: As others have commented the auto mode short cycles for 30 seconds or so. It’s quiet, but still…
