As others have already mentioned, installation can be a pain. 1. The unit protrudes out the window too far, hitting the screen. This causes it to not sit properly on the window sill. I could remove the screen but this is just an invitation for mosquitoes to be sucked in. 2. The foam pieces are not sized properly to cover the gap on the sides and at the top. Included with the unit are two 4 in. pieces, two 2 in. pieces, and two 1 in. pieces. So if the gap is exactly on the inch mark, such as 4,5,6 etc. these work fine. but if you need 1/2 in. more, youre out of luck. I had to use a box cutter to cut down a 1 in. piece This is dangerous as the foam is hard to cut. You also might be able to use double sided tape. 3. A foam pad has been added to the top of the unit where the window comes down on the unit, not a bad idea. But the foam pieces were sized to the top of the unit before the foam was added. This makes for a sloppy fit. 4. Operation is confusing. There is a power indicator, but it does not indicate that the unit is on or off. It only shows that the unit is plugged into a power outlet. The control panel has to be woken up before you can do anything else. It only stays awake for a very short period of time before it goes to sleep again. Having said that. I love this unit. The fan is quiet, and is easy to control. It maintains the desired temperature. This used in my bedroom and the window is next to the bed.

I had been looking for a replacement for the Lakewood LPRW03 for about 10 years now. Lakewood had been bought out by Honeywell and then the fan was discontinued. The TRANSOM appears to be a modernized model of the LPRW03. The TRANSOM performs very similarly to the LPRW03 as far as noise to air movement ratio. This is very good, being completely below the noise floor of my area at 1, whisper quiet at 2, audible at 3 and somewhat loud at 4. Enough air is moved at speed 2 for me, so this is very appealing. The foam blocks work with my window extremely well. I installed the left foam block first, put the fan in, then slid the right foam block in from above the fan on the right side. The fit was a little on the tight side, but for sealing, thats a good thing. The temperature control leaves a lot to be desired. It is significantly impacted by the outside atmosphere, so you cannot really use it reliably to control the interior temperature. The remote is also oddly short range, which I didnt expect for an IR device. I have to be within about 10 feet for it to work.

I purchased this fan to replace a cheaper one that didn’t even live for a year. This one is so much better! It is a little loud when on full blast, but if you just want some air circulation, it’s not bad at all. I have tested the temperature control, it worked as intended. The fan looks good, works well. Can’t complain about anything.

Its a nice fan and all but I bought this fan mainly for the convenience of the auto-temperature control. Unfortunately, this feature is WORTHLESS because the fan reads the outside temperature. For example, the other night the fans control panel was reading 58 degrees but the temperature in my room was almost 70. With such a big deviation between outdoor and indoor temperature, this fan does a poor job of regulating the temperature in a room. Its a nice fan and all, but youre going to have to turn it on and off manually. You cant really rely on the temperature control.

The fan is quiet and fairly good at generating an exhaust while it is superior at an intake of air. The remote works adequately well and is certainly not to large. I prefer to use the control on the console. The device can fit well, though it would be better if the blocks intended for use in filling out the window size were a bit more clear in the directions for their configuration. My suspicion is that those who report that there is a bad fit of these blocks have inserted them upside down or backwards, which is easy to do. A top arrow on the inner aspect (or the outer if people do not want to see an arrow) would be an assist so long as the package was clear on which side that arrow should face relative to the fan front. Beyond that, there is a consideration of use for these devices in a more temperate climate. The only thing near as bad that I can imagine for use of a fan such as this beyond a failed function altogether is the need to remove and replace the fan on a seasonal basis. The work involved in replacement and removal and the possible damage in storage are less than seasonal placement of a window air conditioner, but is still bad. I might have hoped that the company could have a fit face-plate available to act to cut any passive flow of cold air to the interior when the weather was inclement. If fitted with some foam and arranged to clip to the front as an add on accessory, this could allow the device to sit in place during colder periods without a need to remove and reinsert. I have made a rubber sheet shade to fit the front of the device with a cloth backing and fixed it to serve this function myself and the seal is very acceptable to make the device more appropriate for when a temperature plunge might occur. Given the nature of the volatility of weather fronts lately, a device like this could be useful to allow the device to be more serviceable, even if a temperature in South Carolina or Texas might plunge for a few days in an area unaccustomed to the alteration. Such events are far from unknown and the device left in place could make its locale in the house uncomfortably cold for a few days or require removal and replacement in a matter of a few days with marked inconvenience. Thought could be made for this simple fix.

Easy to install and operate. I would buy for each window in room rather than run A/C all day.

Purchased this to replace an old Honeywell two fan unit. Pleasantly surprised, moves a decent amount of air and is fairly quiet, the LEDs arent blinding at night and the buttons dont make any stupid beeps. I only wish the width adjustment was better, I liked the expandable accordian type things my old fan had better than the goofy foam blocks this came with.

Works great and looks decently clean in the window. Took a while to figure out how to get it to fit in properly since the instruction manual doesnt explain much, but I eventually got it in properly and it works with the semi-permanent window screens in my apartment. Some criticism: Temp control seems only useful when its cold outside otherwise your room will never drop to the temp you set. There should be a timer for the warmer months when youll be using air conditioning. No timer also means you either run it the entire time youre not home or not at all. Not very useful as I smoke in my room. For some reason the foam on top of the fan doesnt span the entire length so you dont get a complete seal. I used some stick on foam strips to fill in those gaps. I also had to use tape on the sides since there is a slight gap. I like the foam blocks but every window is different so you cant always get the clean look. The remote that comes with it also works with the vornado tower fan I have, and the remote for that also works with this fan. To avoid them interfering I placed the fans on opposite sides of my bedroom. Seems like a silly problem to have with a brand like Vornado. Overall it works great for my needs. It doesnt take up too much vertical space like the ones with traditional fan blades. Ill probably buy another one if they make a new version with a timer.

I really like this fan overall, but there are a couple of questionable design choices. The Good: - This thing is quiet. Even at the highest setting, it doesnt sounds like a typical fan on high. - Moves a surprising amount of air. Its basically a really long scroll fan. - The fan only moves in one direction. There is a physical diverter that rotates inside to switch between intake and exhaust. The best part is that this diverter closes when you turn the fan off, which somewhat seals off the outdoors. - For a fan, this thing is pretty stylish and low-profile. It doesnt take a lot of vertical space up in your window so a lot of light can still flow through. The Bad: - The foam blocks to seal off the sides are just stupid. I couldnt get them to fit around the fan in my 27 window, which is an exceedingly common window width. I had to buy separate weather stripping to seal it off (pictured in attached photos). I again want to stress that the foam blocks didnt work in my brand new, modern window. - In auto mode (where it blows until you reach a set temperature) the fan tends to cycle on and off a lot, as in every 30 seconds. It seems like this could be easily solved by reprogramming the fan to allow slightly more temperature swing - The thermostat seems somewhat inaccurate, because it senses the temperature in the windowsill and not the room itself. Overall, I still like this fan a lot. If you just want to use it in dumb mode where it blows and blows and blows, its a great fan. If you want to use the Auto feature to try and set an exact temperature in the room, it could be a little better.

I found this to be an easy installation with an easy setup and get it going right away. It is quiet, however, the amount of air it moves is not really that impressive. We live in the desert where I am trying to take advantage of getting cool air in the night to give the AC a break. This is good for a bedroom, but limited to that.
