Greater than one weekI had been looking for a replacement for the Lakewood LPRW03 for about 10 years now. Lakewood had been bought out by Honeywell and then the fan was discontinued. The TRANSOM appears to be a modernized model of the LPRW03. The TRANSOM performs very similarly to the LPRW03 as far as noise to air movement ratio. This is very good, being completely below the noise floor of my area at 1, whisper quiet at 2, audible at 3 and somewhat loud at 4. Enough air is moved at speed 2 for me, so this is very appealing. The foam blocks work with my window extremely well. I installed the left foam block first, put the fan in, then slid the right foam block in from above the fan on the right side. The fit was a little on the tight side, but for sealing, thats a good thing. The temperature control leaves a lot to be desired. It is significantly impacted by the outside atmosphere, so you cannot really use it reliably to control the interior temperature. The remote is also oddly short range, which I didnt expect for an IR device. I have to be within about 10 feet for it to work.

> 3 dayWound up giving this to my sister. She says she is very happy with it, especially that it is quiet and has a low profile. It can also used with a screen to keep bugs out; this is a good feature. On the whole we are happy, but do have some complaints. It doesnt isolate the outside air as well as expected and is best removed from the window on cold nights. The foam blocks they include to seal air gaps are barely useable. We received a unit with a nonworking remote, however the manufacturer was great about helping us get a working replacement.

Greater than one weekI really like this fan overall, but there are a couple of questionable design choices. The Good: - This thing is quiet. Even at the highest setting, it doesnt sounds like a typical fan on high. - Moves a surprising amount of air. Its basically a really long scroll fan. - The fan only moves in one direction. There is a physical diverter that rotates inside to switch between intake and exhaust. The best part is that this diverter closes when you turn the fan off, which somewhat seals off the outdoors. - For a fan, this thing is pretty stylish and low-profile. It doesnt take a lot of vertical space up in your window so a lot of light can still flow through. The Bad: - The foam blocks to seal off the sides are just stupid. I couldnt get them to fit around the fan in my 27 window, which is an exceedingly common window width. I had to buy separate weather stripping to seal it off (pictured in attached photos). I again want to stress that the foam blocks didnt work in my brand new, modern window. - In auto mode (where it blows until you reach a set temperature) the fan tends to cycle on and off a lot, as in every 30 seconds. It seems like this could be easily solved by reprogramming the fan to allow slightly more temperature swing - The thermostat seems somewhat inaccurate, because it senses the temperature in the windowsill and not the room itself. Overall, I still like this fan a lot. If you just want to use it in dumb mode where it blows and blows and blows, its a great fan. If you want to use the Auto feature to try and set an exact temperature in the room, it could be a little better.

> 3 dayLike many other reviewers I love the fan but the foam blocks used to seal the window are a bad idea, badly designed, and they get filthy when you touch them. This fan should have the standard bellows that all other window fans have. Sad that such a well designed product has such an obvious and basic flaw. The fan itself is awesome, sleek, quiet and really moves a lot of air. The remote is nice but you have to push a button twice to get the fan to wake up before it accepts a command. The fan does not seal up in a closed position when its off, but you cant see much light coming through it and I dont feel it leaks much air into the room when its off.

> 3 dayThis is idiotic. Ive purchased many items that work with alexa or work with google home but they always, ALWAYS have an option to use their own app (iHealths bp app, LG Thinq, etc). So why do I have to use stupid Alexa? Also where the hell is the remote control? Are you seriously not including a remote because Alexa takes care of that instead ? Holy cow what a joke! It seems to work just fine. Doesnt go as far as most Vornado fans (usually like a spotlight or an air cannon), but it s strong enough to pull bathroom, food, and other smells out of the apartment. The foam rubber pieces are a nice change from the usual window fan plastic plates and accordions (which I usually have to modify with cardboard and packing tape anyway). Touch controls are neat looking, but they disappear as soon as youre done with them, and you have to tap them back on, then use them. Why? To save 0.00004 watts of electricity? The whole reason I bought this was to install it at the TOP (not the bottom) of the window, as to pull the bad smells up and away, as well as to avoid pulling the cold air conditioner air right outside seconds after its created. I was HOPING to use some remote software THAT ISNT ALEXA to turn it back on if theres a power failure. However to install this up there, Id have to use alexa, or keep a ladder handy. If I knew the remote was NOT INCLUDED, I would have just bought the regular remote one. If you dont like alexa, DO NOT BUY THIS.

Greater than one weekI just purchased this fan for a bathroom window, where I often sneak a cigarette instead of going outside when Im busy working and short on time or if it is miserably cold or hot outside. The fan is attractive and the spacers to seal the gaps on the sides worked well for me (but are not air-tight). (I have 10-yr old Pella vinyl windows with screens.). The reversible air flow option is convenient and works just ok. However, in the exhaust mode, when strong winds blow against the fan from outside, the outside air still pushes past the fans and into the room even on the highest exhaust speed. When the fan is in the OFF position, it is advertised that the fan automatically goes into Closed Mode. The accuracy of this statement by the seller is of questionable accuracy. It is true that when the fan is turned off, the fan blades close in on themselves; however, this does NOT close the fan from in/out air flow. There are uncloseable gaps around the fan blades allowing wind, outside smells (car exhaust), and pollen to blow into the room. The fan is easily installed, but it is not meant to be taken in and out simply with each use to combat this problem. The idea is nice and might be more functional in temperate climates, but in Atlanta, it gets HOT and I will not be able to leave this in the window in the window anytime outside of the few weeks of fall we get. Other than the mediocre exhaust fan power, it is not a whole lot different than just leaving a window open given the inability to close the vents. I would not have expected to pay anything more than $45 for this product rather than the $100 price tag.

> 3 dayWorks great and looks decently clean in the window. Took a while to figure out how to get it to fit in properly since the instruction manual doesnt explain much, but I eventually got it in properly and it works with the semi-permanent window screens in my apartment. Some criticism: Temp control seems only useful when its cold outside otherwise your room will never drop to the temp you set. There should be a timer for the warmer months when youll be using air conditioning. No timer also means you either run it the entire time youre not home or not at all. Not very useful as I smoke in my room. For some reason the foam on top of the fan doesnt span the entire length so you dont get a complete seal. I used some stick on foam strips to fill in those gaps. I also had to use tape on the sides since there is a slight gap. I like the foam blocks but every window is different so you cant always get the clean look. The remote that comes with it also works with the vornado tower fan I have, and the remote for that also works with this fan. To avoid them interfering I placed the fans on opposite sides of my bedroom. Seems like a silly problem to have with a brand like Vornado. Overall it works great for my needs. It doesnt take up too much vertical space like the ones with traditional fan blades. Ill probably buy another one if they make a new version with a timer.

> 3 dayLove this fan and use it often in the reverse fan mode to ventilate rooms when have many guests. only problem is it will sometimes fall out of the window despite use of the bumpers
