This is a great tool. Id never replaced my own chain before but after purchasing a bike for the track decided to do as much of the work on it as I could myself. The OEM chain was showing rust and the stock sprockets needed to go. Took my time and using this tool installed a 520 DID x-ring chain. This tool worked exactly as expected, I think many of the failures you read about from consumer chain tools are due to improper use and care. Some tips: use a Dremel tool to cut the old chains rivet heads, then using this tool its easy to break the chain. YOU MUST LUBRICATE THIS TOOL. You will be putting a LOT Of force on the threads on this tool, the oil that it comes in is light and just there to prevent corrosion, it will not lubricate it. Coat the threads thoroughly with a fairly heavy grease (I used some old Rock Shox Judy Butter), this will keep things moving and prevent binding under stress. Also, to flare the rivets you will be using a good amount of force, plan on using a breaker bar or strong ratchet/wrench. Finally, the specifications for how much to flare the rivet are very precise and you will need a digital caliper if youre going to make an accurate reading.

I mean there isn’t much to say, however never doing a gain replacement before and using this device I didn’t feel like I was having a bad time. Only thing I would mention is don’t crank down too much when riveting because unless your Hercules you may feel like you’ll never get the device free again. Maybe that’s just me. I would buy this product again and since it’s the best and most popular you can easily find videos on YouTube with people using these to take and put new chains on for reference.

Ive never used one of these before, and with a little help from the instructions and a youtube video, installing a new chain was a breeze. I didnt use it for chain removal, since bolt cutters seem like a much easier option. I did slightly crush the magnet on the forcing screw a bit, but that was my own fault for not following the instructions closely enough, so beware of that.

Like everyone else says... motion pro is great, but they didnt win this battle.. haha, the main pin broke on mine like everyone else.
