Meta Portal TV - Big Screen Smart Video Calling for Group Calls on Your TV

Not many people have mentioned Whatsapp calling via Portal so Ill focus on that. You link your Whatsapp account from your phone via the Whatsapp Web feature and it takes about a minute. You can then choose to add some of your Whatsapp friends/family to your Favorites so that theyre on your home screen. You can also choose some of your Facebook friends as Favorites. This blends in your Favorites from both apps so that you dont have switch between the apps or even think about who uses what app. I think this is very useful and makes it much easier for anyone to use Portal. Your recent contacts also show up on the top of the home screen.

Must use messenger or WhatsApp to call. No movie access. No phone access even through alexa. Limits Alexa features. 2 step verification for calendar and other apps. Limited apps.

So, you know how Facebook itself is full of bugs, they release updates that have problems, they make it a hassle to log in, they don’t work with other companies, and they offer no support whatsoever? That’s the model that birthed the Facebook Portal TV, and it’s everything you would expect from Facebook. So if you love Facebook and all of its problems, you just might love the Portal TV. And if you don’t love Facebook, you definitely won’t love the Portal TV.

I was hoping to stream video sites such as Netflix, Hulu, Disney, Discovery+, but I guess you havent added any of these to the lineup which I think you should.

I purchased this for my parents after hours of trying to facetime only to have their cameras pointed in unflattering angles. This took that away, now we can talk without them having to use a phone or tablet, relaxed and seated in their living room. While I am not the primary user I will say that as someone on the other end of the call I appreciate the face tracking features. Any issue they ever had with it was external to the device (internet was out, power was not connected). When your portal TV is ringing it will make a sound and have a little light that will come on. The quality of the calls is good, however, it is subject to the quality of wifi callers have or data signal for those calling the portal using a phone connected via a cell tower. Camera quality is best in brightly lit rooms as with most cameras. I did have the benefit of setting it up and figuring it out for them in their home. When they bought a new TV it didnt have to be reconfigured, (plug and play). I was initially disappointed that this wasnt an all in one video calling and streaming entertainment system.

This is the First One I Every Ordered ❤️Now the Second 0ne You Could Tell Was Used And Refurbished And it Came from A Third Party .. Took me 3 Weeks To get Resolved.But Finally Done Got My Refund And Threw it Out …Hopefully The Next One Is Brand New !!!

For a10 screen . Solid wifi connectivity. And what can you say for $60. Its pretty hard to beat even if your not into Facebook like me
