> 3 dayPurchased this for my husband for his AT thru hike. Was a little confusing to set up, but we had it set up and working for his hike. Less than 2 weeks into his thru hike the inreach mini stopped working. It was fully charged, the shut off and wouldnt turn back on. He tried charging but it was just dead. A little expensive for something that worked for 2 weeks. Garmin was no help, they want to troubleshoot. It has been sent home from the trail, Im not messing with sending it back and forth. Save your money if you are purchasing for the AT. He has had good cell service so far and there are lots of other hikers around. This is just a waste of money I dont have time to deal with.

29-10-2024So the battery failed almost exactly at the 1 year point, and they wont sell me a replacement battery, and after waiting on hold for 20 minutes, they wont even repair it. I have to pay$120, and send them my GPS unit, and then they will swap it out for a refurb unit. All over a $5 battery. I essentially have to give them my mint condition GPS, and pay for some crappy refurb, so they can throw in a cheap battery, and resell it for another $120. Be warned, if you plan on buying this garbage.

Greater than one weekLike the size / weight in comparison to the InReach Explorer +. But its not as easy to navigate through the pages. It does seem to be faster though, maybe because its newer and possibly improved receiver.

> 3 dayI recommend visiting the Garmin website and doing research on plans and how to use the unit BEFORE purchasing it. The unit is well built and the battery lasts a long time but managing the account and understanding plans and how to manage the account is difficult. The website is poorly laid out and rather opaque and it is easy to to make unintended changes. Using the device is also not intuitive and requires patient study and youtube videos to do even a basic setup with it. Their customer service staff are very nice and helpful so do call if you need help. Unfortunately I have had the device for 6 months and it is still not properly set up. I suspect most people using it must be very motivated to learn or have previous Garmin experience. I would probably look at other devices before getting this if I were starting over.

> 3 dayWas very impressed at the size of this thing, you really dont understand how small it is without actually holding it. You could honestly keep it in your pocket all day and not realize its in there; Its very easy to use and well made as well.

30-10-2024the activation of the device was not possible and so far nobody was able to assist me. I am only wasting money on the subscription and the device is useless

> 3 dayThis little device really rocks compared to the SPOT systems. Yes the SPOT systems are less expensive but very frustrating to work with. The Mini is easy to set up, easy to use, easy to interface, easy to change plans, and most importantly more accurate and reliable than my SPOT systems.

> 3 dayI have no idea why we waited so long to get this incredible device. Aside from being able to stay in touch, the peace of mind having and emergency out provides a sense of piece when in the backcountry that can only be experienced, and not fully explained.

31-10-2024The app often fails to pull messages from the device. The battery life is about 1/3 of the advertised battery life even if I turn off all tracking features.
