Greater than one weekI bought this in order for my family to track me while I drove across Africa in a 4x4, oftentimes in very remote areas. It worked perfectly with clear skies, but gave some issues in clouds. That being said, a 5/5 because I’d be totally on my own without this as a safety net.

26-10-2024This is one of the best things I’ve put on my boat! I am cruising the Caribbean and this allows friends and family to watch a live map feed of my progress. I opted for the unlimited texting plan, so I receive weather updates and frequent texts from friends anywhere I am sailing. The battery lasts for more than 36 hours, but I just leave it plugged in. Also, initially, I hung it outside. But I’ve found it works just fine sitting under a window inside the boat. Much cheaper than a satellite phone but does enough for my purposes. The web links and set up can be a bit confusing but with time it works well.

> 3 dayI got the product and it seemed factory fresh, worked for my needs and I was glad to find that I could choose different satellite services for my product, thought coming from telesat. User interface is relatively easy to use for younger people who are well-transitioned to tech. Activation takes a bit, but that seems like part of the process. Thanks!

> 3 dayIf you consider to buy this gps, Performance vs price , there is no competitive. At first i bought the 86sci blue chart included. It’s correct that gives you lot and lots of options but it’s a question of if you really need those options or not. This tool next to your smart phone is all you need to have conversations or sos in case of emergency.

Greater than one weekI own an earlier version of this device, and it has been very useful when I have been beyond cell signal. However, you should know that you will be dealing with a very consumer-unfriendly company. I have had many complaints about Garmin over the years, but in this case, when you have a yearly subscription, they send out the reminder of your subscription (calling it an invoice) the day after they renew it, making sure that they have 1 years more money if you had wanted to cancel. I certainly wouldnt cost them anything to send out a reminder a week in advance, as many companies do, allowing you to cancel before the charge to your credit card.

> 3 dayDéçu, service qui revient très cher, mieux tant quà ça, investir dans un téléphone satellite à mon avis. Il sera à vendre pas cher à la fin de mon année dabonnement

> 3 dayLove it for its compatibility! Product as described and fast shipping. Ive not been able to take it for a test hike, but, with Garmins reputation of reliability, Im confident all will be good.

> 3 dayIf I could give this product a 1/2 star rating, I would. I bought this for my son to take with him on his first solo 4 day backpacking trip in Colorado, which starts today. He has been trying to set it up for the last 3 days but has not been successful due to the Garmin website being down. I realize this is not Garmin’s fault but really, don’t waste your money if you can’t get consistent support for it. Just get a spot beacon and be done with it.
