> 24 hourI purchased this monitor before G-sync went live and fell deeply in love with the response rate and the 144hz speed. I am a professional gamer and play games that require twitch movement and speed. I went from a 70Hz 6ms Asus monitor to this whopping 144Hz 1ms monitor and I DEFINITELY notice a difference. From games such as Starcraft and CS:GO, this monitor provides you with the edge in game. I demand performance and this is exactly what it gave me and more. I installed G-Sync following the DIY tutorial on NVIDIAs web site. The installation was easy granted that I have experience dismantling and building computers and components. The overall installation only took 20 minutes for me and really improved my gaming performance. The twitch games such as CS:GO are the kind that I really saw a jump in improvement. The G-Sync along with the 1ms and 144Hz gave games such as BF4, Crysis, and CS:GO a great boost in fluidity and responsiveness. As stated before, my old monitor was 6 years old and this upgrade turned my whole life around. The responsiveness, cleanliness, and fluidity are very noticeable and give me more of an enjoyable gaming experience. I have even restarted various games such as Metro and Bioshock because the gameplay was that much more enjoyable with this monitor and with G-sync installed. If you are in the market for a gaming monitor that is G-sync capable, look no further. For the price you are getting a top-notch monitor with the capability of adding g-sync to really boost your experience. This is by far one of the most important parts of my gaming rig i have purchased and is one that I highly recommend to anyone who wants to get the most out of their computer and their gaming experience. Side note: I have recently ditched my 60hz 42in TV from my living room since I am no longer able to bare the slow 60Hz. I now watch TV on my Asus monitor...

> 24 hourI moved from a 60hz monitor to this, mind blown. Incredible picture quality. You do have to enable the overclocking to get to 165hz in the monitor menu(the button on the back). If youre on a 60hz and on the fence about upgrading -- DOOOOO IT! *Edit* So good I ordered a 2nd one. These are amazing!

> 24 hourBuilt-in 2W stereo, DisplayPort, Dual-link DVI-D, and HDMI ports, 1920x1080, 80,000,000:1 ASUS Smart Contrast Ratio, and 350 cd/m² of brightness, 144 Hz refresh rate and 1ms response time are some of the awesome features that this badboy display features. This display has a minimum black level of .0121 cd/m^2 and brightness level of 412 cd/m^2. I have tested this display with various games (BF4, Dragon Age: Inquisition, Lichdom Battlemage. Compared to my old monitor Acer G235HAbd 23 (which I bought in 2012 and still use) I dont have to worry about ghosting, lag, or choppy action due to fast response time & refresh rate, colors were more crisper, contrast was much more definitive, and the difference in brightness is comparable to a led flashlight vs. candle light (yup it is pretty bright). This display is certainly an eye opener in my perspective. However, one thing to note is that the colors are washed out, and brightness level is too high with stock settings, and so you have to manually tweak the settings in order to get a good image quality. The HDMI cable limits the refresh rate to 60 Hz, but the DVI cable offers full 144 Hz refresh rate. I have not tested the built in speakers so I am not sure about sound quality of the built-in speakers, but if you ask any gamer they will say they either use a headset or external sound system hooked up to the computer so it is not a big deal for me at least. The VG248QE doesnt have a gamma control so it has gamma setup horribly that an attempt to achieve a 2.2 power law gamma will actually crush your blacks (yeah - its that bad). All is not lost as these problems can be fixed with some calibrating and an ICC profile. (Tutorials can be found on tomshardware.com and reddit (Just search calibrating asus vg248qe). Not as good looking as a IPS panel, but no one is going to buy this for graphic design where accurate colors are a must-have. This is a gaming monitor and the inaccuracy of the colors really isnt that noticeable once calibrated.

> 24 hourSince Amazon lumps multiple models together on one review list, and search results eliminate the section which identifies which model is being reviewed: This is for the ASUS VG248QE 24 Full HD 1920x1080 144Hz 1ms HDMI Gaming Monitor. It also has Display Port (DP) and DVI-D Dual Link (although I thought it is DVI-I Dual Link, but I dont want to unhook the cable to verify, so Ill go with the listing details). Last purchased Feb 2, 2014, Style: 24 FHD 1ms 144Hz Height Adjustable | Pattern Name: Gaming Monitor After owning this monitor for nearly NINE YEARS, I am still very pleased by it. Overall, there is a lot to like, and not much to dislike about this monitor. I primarily use it for gaming, working, and other typical computer use. The image is crisp, the colors are vivid, the blacks are deep, and can be made even deeper using ASCR, there is barely any backlight bleeding, ZERO dead pixels (no green, black, or bright pixels - nothing at all wrong with the image), fast 1ms response time, high 144hz refresh rate - there really is very much to like. (Other than something I did - my own fault - to slightly damage the surface with a sharp object one time about 7 years ago) the monitor is visually and cosmetically flawless. I only have two very small complaints after almost a decade of constant use: 1. The frame on the top is just barely starting to lift off the top in a short portion of the middle, and occasionally allows a bit of the backlight to shine through - but even this issue, I think, is going away after I have worked on pushing the frame back in place and it seems to no longer have the issue anymore. It might also have to do with temperature differences due to changing seasons resulting in slight expanding or contracting of the material. Really not a big deal, and almost not worth mentioning, but I want to give an honest, fair, and complete review. 2. The height adjustment has recently (within the last year or so - i.e. after about 8 years of use) started to lose its ability to hold the monitor at its position. However, this comes with three pertinent caveats: - First, my wife and daughter very often use my computer when I am away and move the monitor down, and then I have to move it back up when I get back, so it experiences a lot of wear and tear. - Second, I have my very heavy Logitech gaming headset conveniently hanging on the back of the monitor (because it has such a perfectly shaped section which, although probably not designed for this, perfectly holds my headset in place) which significantly adds to the overall weight of the monitor hanging on the height-adjustment mechanism. - Third, even with the problem existing, by moving the monitor to the desired position and holding it in place for a few moments, it will typically hold its position, even with the heavy headset hanging on the back. So, thats it. No other cons. I havent read many of the other reviews, but I did see something about color issues: this is fairly easily addressable via monitor settings, and if needed, Nvidia Control Center settings (or the equivalent AMD settings). Also, if you have any issues with Ghosting, I suggest adjusting your Trace Free setting to either 60 or 80. I advise not using 100, as that seems to overcorrect the issue and introduce inverse ghosting, if I recall correctly from previous testing. Setting it too low (i.e. 40 or below) doesnt seem to correct it enough, but it could work for some people. The only reason I am shopping around for another monitor at this point is because my wifes monitor (different brand/model) died and so I am giving her this monitor. Otherwise, I would plan to just keep using this monitor for years to come. I highly recommend buying this monitor.

> 24 hourI was on the fence buying a TN panel display. I mean come on, its 2017... I can get the same 24 IPS display I bought 5 years ago for half the price I originally payed for it, and half the price of this TN panel. But reading the reviews and studying up on higher framerates, on top of playing competitive pvp games led me to picking up one of these when I needed to replace my main display. I bought into the hype... AND OMG was it worth it. WOW 144 Hz what a difference. IMMEDIATELY after setting the monitor refresh rate on my NVidia GTX 1060 to 144 Hz I knew I made the right choice. I sat there in awe moving my mouse around the screen so smoothly and crisply. You wouldnt think youd pick up the difference but I can easily see it just by moving my mouse around on my new and old monitors side by side. Obviously gaming-wise the difference is just as well, Battlerite at 144Hz is perfection. Color-wise, no doubt this panel competes with my old IPS ASUS displays (VE247H & an older VH236H). Side by side I dont even notice a difference after tuning the settings and colors, if anything the blacks look even better on the VG248QE. Im stunned. Just know that, like all of the ASUS monitors Ive used, the VG248QE needs some significant tuning to get the colors / levels set correctly. The last thing Ill talk about is the stand. My older ASUS monitors have fixed stands with no height adjustment or rotation. The added advantage of the rotation and height adjustments are super nice and I didnt realize what I was missing. The base of the display has an integrated rotation feature, really high quality.

> 24 hourThis is the best monitor I have ever owned , My previous monitor was only 60 HZ with 1ms responce time ,My computer I put together is above average running a 8 core processor 32 GB memory EVGA motherboard ,EVGA 2070 gaming GPU and 2-TB solid state sansung , I used a high Quality display cable to connect from monitor to GPU and I have logged about 12 hours of game play with this monitor , playing Assassin Creed valhalla and its absolutly the best I have ever had , great colors very smooth and clear , I never knew how much vegatation is in this game till now , One of the things I used to struggle with are the stupid tattos you have to chase , Well not any more I captured like three of them in about ten minutes , they are a lot easier to see and follow now , Combat and everything else is much better , I read a lot of negative reviews about the color , But this monitor has great color for my setup , I have no complaints , early mornings /high noon /afternoons and night all are very real , Cloud cover /sunshine/ rain /fog/wind/ fire /smoke/sunrise/sunset all great on my build , I may just be lucky , But I am happy with this monitor ! Have a nice day and good luck !

> 24 hourOk first of all I only got this monitor because it had a 120+ refresh rate and was affordable after the first fact. It definitely has a refresh rate of 120+ but the problem is, if your processor and graphics card do not support higher resolutions and higher refresh rate, then this monitor wont matter. BE SURE YOU CHANGE THE SETTINGS TO 144 refresh rate in Monitor settings. If you dont, it wont do it automatically. So once you buy it and it doesnt go higher than 60 its set to do less. So next if your computer does support higher refresh rate processor and graphics card then it should be fine but if you are like me who wants to SEE this refresh rate and never EVER want to SEE any lag? Then I would suggest buying this as a backup plan. Buy a monitor like a BenQ or something if you dont want to be slightly -even a hairs difference- disapointed. This monitor supports high refresh rate but I still see lag every other few seconds on games like Sims and Guild Wars 2. But my First Person Shooters are golden on this monitor its just games that have sudden bursts of activity like World versus world on guild wars that I see slight bouts of lag. This is NOT completely a monitor issue, it may also be the processor moving slowly because I stopped overclocking for a slight moment to reduce energy. You never know. But this monitor is absolutely awesome in a nutshell. You can adjust it any time you wish, and people think this is a problem to keep adjusting. I love it. Sometimes Im leaning and sometimes I sit straight. My monitor adjusts to my fit from left to right high and low. Lastly, the best part about this monitor is the refresh rate, and if you are a hard-core gamer its a great start. If you have the money then go all out, if not then this monitor is way better than you will ever find for the specs and low price.

> 24 hourThis Asus monitor, for the money, is one of the best on the market right now for a PC or Apple computer. If you are buying this for your gaming console you will only be using the HDMI connection and losing the well-defined picture this monitor is capable of reproducing, especially with a higher Refresh Rate. -- Comparison Statistics -- :: Response Time (GTG): 1 ms. :: Maximum Refresh Rate: 144hz. :: Screen Diagonal Size: 24 inches :: Screen Dimensions: 22-3/8 (W) x 13-5/16 (H) x 1-7/8 (D) :: Telescoping Ability: 16 to 20-3/8 Total Height [The number is the top of the monitor] :: Tilt Capability: Forward and backward :: Stand Dimension: 9 inch Diameter :: Speakers: 2 x 2 watts :: Ports: Display Port, Dual Link DVI, HDMI :: Headphone Output: None :: USB Ports: None -- What Is Need to Use The Monitor at HD -- :: A graphics card capable of reproducing a 144hz. Refresh Rate :: A computer graphics card with Dual Link Display Port or DVI-D connectors :: Optional: An ICC Profile (a set pre-configured values) to help you set up a balanced color palette -- The Computer System for comparison -- :: Dell Studio XPS 8100 (about 5 years old) :: Intel Core i5 CPU 650 @ 3.20Ghz. :: 8GB DDR3-SDRAM Dual Channel Memory :: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 750ti Graphics Card w/ 2MB memory If you are looking to upgrade your monitor, with a 60-70hz refresh rate and a slow Response Time, this is the one. You definitely bump up considerably when you purchase this monitor. I play on World of Tanks using the High Definition mode. The difference in the colors and detail are very noticeable provided you have a graphics card capable of running High-Def with a 144hz Refresh Rate. The colors from the Asus reproduced out of the box were atrocious when hooked up to my PC. I tried using my on-board NVIDIA cards program but it never came close to what I was searching for in terms of color balance and brightness. It took too much time, so it was off to the search engine I went. I was able to find several web pages that had an ICC Profile pre-configured for my NVIDIA graphics card and all that was needed, after installation, was to tweak the brightness a bit. Many thanks for those people who put them out there. Using the ICC Profile saved me a lot of time. If you need help understanding how to load an ICC Profile once you have downloaded it to your computer just search, Using ICC Profile in Windows. I cant guarantee you will find the ICC Profile for your particular graphics card but if you do find one it saves a lot of time and experimentation. If you are a hands-on person there are also multiple web pages that will help you, step by step, through the process of using your graphics card software program to set up your monitor and then tweak it for game play. The telescoping stand and tilt works easily and can be moved on a moment’s notice if needed. The monitor feels solid on the desk, unlike some monitors I have owned. It is real nice to have a solid stand and monitor standing on your desk without the threat of the cat or child accidentally knocking it over. I have not used the speakers on the monitor because I use gaming headphones. I cannot comment on their capability. Monitor speakers I have used didnt have dynamic sound so unless you are hard-up for sound dont bother. This card gets 5 stars because it delivered, in spades, the best color and image definition, as well as some nice extras, Ive seen since using computers in the past 10 years. Are there better monitors out there? Yes, but this price point makes it a great choice for budget-minded gamers with a huge bump in definition above your normal graphics card. Just do your home- work to make sure your computer and graphics card have the capability to use its maximum settings. You will be very pleased with the results. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- NOTE: Make sure you change the graphics card Refresh Rate to 144hz!

> 24 hourI purchased three of these monitors for a Surround setup, currently in portrait. The included base is intuitive and stylish, allowing one to rotate from landscape to portrait by simply turning it. I originally had the three of them mounted onto a frame and displayed in landscape mode, but the ultra-wide 5780x1080 resolution was a bit jarring and far too unsupported. Presently, theyre all set up in bezel-corrected 3950x1920, and its quite the theatrical experience. Everything I play now is HUGE, equivalent to a 44 inch TV with 6 million pixels. The bezels are reasonably thick, but for the amount of screen area you get, arent too bad. Keep in mind that running three of these in 144Hz mode requires at least one of them to be run through DisplayPort for it to function properly. The 1ms response times and refresh rates are definitely noticeable and desirable over other panels, but the crowning feature of this monitor and other 144hz models are the LightBoost support. Check it out, as itll change everything. Im removing a star for the color reproduction of this monitor. Its a TN panel, so the colors tend to be overly bright and washed out. Turning on LightBoost and strobing makes everything dimmer but much easier on the eyes. Ive got the strobing feature turned on across all three panels. Still, I cant help but feel that the colors seem slightly off from what Im used to. Its taken quite a bit of work to get to a setting that I can universally enjoy. I purchased this particular monitor over the BENQ model in anticipation for Nvidias G-SYNC technology. If that releases as a do-it-yourself module, Ill update this review with my impressions of that technology.
