First, this went together very, very easily. I had it assembled, adjusted, and in the window in a few minutes. Sliding the A/C unit in place was very easy. But a couple thoughts on making it a bit better 1) The alternating pins are very clever, but need to be called out in the instructions. I thought something was wrong for a moment, until I realized how it was walking into place, moving one detent at a time. 2) its not clear in the instructions how the wings that hold the inside of the window frame are supposed to fit up against the window frame and trim. I ended up extending the wings as far as I could within the window (based on the flat portion on the bottom), and let the tabs reach as far as they could. 3) I padded the support against the window with some foam, and put some of the foam that came with my A/C unit (meant to be applied to the window sill) to the shelf in a few contact points to reduce the amount of metal-to-metal contact and vibration (its noticeably quieter, now).

It took some time to figure out how to adjust it. Instructions says to put sides in the third hole. Found out that meant third from the shortest setting. After that, I got it in place. As a former welder, I can appreciate the construction of it. My window frame is not the best for it, but got it to work. Placed a 2x6x24 piece of redwood under the AC unit to keep it from tipping too much. Will work better after I anchor the wooden piece. It will give me peace of mind that my A/C unit is well supported and should not put a strain on my apartments window frame.

This is very well constructed and very sturdy... but is not designed to fit what should be a normal installation. There is a 1 space from the outside of my window track to the edge of my siding. Which is similar to most houses I have owned. This bracket will not work unless there is at least a 3 space when set on its most compact setting. And it is adjustable to accommodate up to a 9-10 gap.. which I have never seen in any residential setting.

Super easy to set up. Read instructions, and it literally takes 5-10 minutes. It is very sturdy, and good quality. The reason I can’t give a good rating and my complaint is that for the price, why on earth would they leave the part where you put your AC with a glossy, very slippery surface?? Why not ad a gritty texture in the paint there, or ad a plastic slip proof surface, so when you are setting the AC on it, it isn’t susceptible to sliding around or even sliding off to possibly a long way down!? I was (an still am) shocked how slick and slippery it is and I want to shift my AC around and put more foam around our window to seal it better, and opening the window and moving it really does make me nervous, because of that huge design flaw.

I was really getting tired of damaging the sill on my vinyl windows with the weight of the window ac unit resting on it year after year. Not to mention the rigging of a temporary summer bracket outside every year. And where did I put the one from last year again??? So I went looking for something engineered for the job. Having an old farm house, this one caught my eye over and over as I researched. My initial question was is this really going to be worth paying 2 - 3 times the cost of support brackets at the big-box stores. That question was answered when the box arrived and I was shocked at how heavy and sturdy this bracket was. I could see that there was no doubt this would support that 50+ pound monster that I lugged in and up and out and down every spring and fall. Simple to assemble, well finished in a hard baked white enamel (it may even be powered coated- not sure) almost unlimited adjustment holes for the angle the unit will rest at, and a really study tray and frame catch bracket put my mind at ease immediately for both strength and return on investment. I expect this bracket to last for many summers to come. Spend the money once and get it over with.

Spending this kind of money I thought this would have a better fit. I spent $650+ on this Friedrich air conditioner and did not want it falling out of the second floor of this hovel, and trust me, this building was built on the cheap. Had to use lots of foam for the huge gaps. Im keeping for when I move again, but I am not happy about this at all. Most of the blame lies with building management.

I was surprised that it was as good as they said it was . It had all the parts only a couple of dings in it so all I had to do was put a heavy spray seal on it just like new . Not often you get an item that’s $76.00 for $17.00 . Works great

This Black & Decker bracket is very well made, and we thought it was exactly what we wanted for easy mount and dismount of our tiny A/C unit, which we only use 2½ mos out of the year. Unfortunately, it sounds more like a universal fit than it really is, regardless of the many adjustments you can make for both the interior and exterior wings/legs (half stops for the exterior = wonderful). Though we finally found a place for the gripper feet on the exterior legs to lay flat against our siding, it left the bracket at an incline instead of a decline, which is of course the opposite of what you want with an air conditioner because of condensate concerns. We tried numerous times (literally a dozen different adjustments!) to get it to work, but it was impossible for it to be snug on the frame inside and at the proper angle outside. Plus, it left huge gaps beneath the A/C unit on both sides. Also, we feel it was made for larger units and that this should be noted. We purchased the very popular and best-selling Frigidaire unit here on Amazon, which is tiny and only 40 lbs. It just barely fit (like by a mere half inch) when centered on the bracket, and kept slipping between the vertical legs/supports—to the extent that we went online to look for rubbery bits to apply to either the A/C or the bracket, and then we thought, What are we doing?! This just wont work for us. Amazon processed our return without a hitch. (And honestly, later drilling three holes in the bottom of our vinyl-clad window was absolutely NO big deal—and it left no gaps.) Bottom line: Its well made, and an attractive color (the dark grey). But know that even if you measure all surfaces and areas, and everything looks as though it will be a perfect fit, its still possible this bracket is not going to work for you. However, Id still recommend it if you have a more standard size A/C unit and a flatter exterior surface like brick or stucko. Siding is tough because of the way the rows cut off, and you just wont know if this will work until you have it in your hands for a trial. Thankfully Amazon is good with returns if youre prompt with your trials.

Extremely sturdy and easy to install BUT needs some modifications if using with an AC requiring to install the cabinet then the AC itself. I used 2 pieces of 3/8 thick aluminum I bolted to the far crossbar , then I could install the cabinet (bolted to the crossbars). I would suggest the manufacturer to offer this modification as an option. Fits tightly and very nicely. Required very little weather stripping. For all other window ACs, can be used easily. Just check that your windows are compatible with this shelf: go on the web site of the manufacturer: there are some good pictures. By the way the instructions are not well written.
