My 22,000 btu unit and I think most large ac units require the outside metal cabinet be installed and secured first. Then the actual ac unit is lifted up and slides into the cabinet from the home interior pushing the unit outward thru the window and into the cabinet. The ac units bottom is a tray that has all the components bolted to it. The bottom tray of the ac unit is the bottom of the whole air conditioner so the cabinet itself has a large opening in the bottom. Problem is the cabinet is open at the bottom with slide rails on each side. The cabinet falls down and around the bracket unsupported. Once installed the ac units bottom tray will rest on the bracket but the cabinet needs to be supported at during installation.

Was easy to install and seemed quite sturdy. Was a touch expensive though and doesn’t really fully bear the weight of the AC except at the window jam. The problem is really with the AC as it doesn’t allow for that suggested 4deg down bubble due to being ‘clipped’ into the window pane. But my landlord said we needed brackets on all AC units so here we are.

I had a nightmare time trying to install my 12000BTU AC in my condos window. The window is old and the sill is strange, and other brackets that required bolts just didnt line up properly. I decided to go with this one after reading the wirecutter review and wow did it do the trick. I simply installed the arms and the locking mechanisms and it fit just right. It turned a project I dreaded doing into something I found quite easy and fun. Would buy again.

Purchased this specific model because the window is visible from the street and we wanted to be able to remove the AC when no longer needed without leaving an ugly support in place. I think they designed it to support twice the weight of any model AC just in case. Incredibly sturdy and the pins allow for minute adjustment to ensure a perfect angle for your AC to drain. Only draw back is just how much more it costs than a standard model. Bit too much more. I would have continued to shop around but were out of time with company arriving.

We have ruined our window trim with installing and reinstalling our air conditioner in the spring/fall. I was done, so I started looking for something that was simple and easy and would provide the support we needed. I chose this product because it came fully assembled except four pieces which you need to adjust to your window. It took us a couple of tries to get it installed (no more than 30 minutes) once it is was installed, we slide the AC unit onto the bracket - what a great device. It leveled properly. We liked it so much we purchased 2 more brackets for our other AC units. Highly recommend.

VERY easy to set up, but you do need to poke your head out of the window to make sure the feet are flat on the wall. If you dont do that, and something jostles the air conditioner, I can imagine dire things happening. The instruction booklet, like ALL instruction booklets, could use some work. Maybe larger, clearer illustrations. But, its true, you dont need any tools. One last thing - you need to use alternate methods to fill the gaps created using this bracket. There will be areas in front of and underneath the bracket to fill. Not a problem - I used bubble wrap. Bottom line - I feel that the entire unit is safer, and therefore, we are safer using it.

Not a fan because it rust first season

We are so happy with this product. Sturdy, Strong, Reliable, quick to assemble and very easy to use. Holds the air conditioner in the appropriate position at the appropriate angle. The feet that rest against your house/apartment/office have silicone nobs as to not damage siding. Another great feature about the feet is they are flexible to accommodate different types of siding. The legs have several adjustment options for any angle needed and securely lock into place. I definitely recommend this product if you plan to put an air conditioner in an upper storey home/apartment/office window. We tried several others that werent terrible but none compared to the sturdiness and peace of mind this Bracket provided. Youll also notice your air conditioner will run quieter because it is sturdy.

I was really getting tired of damaging the sill on my vinyl windows with the weight of the window ac unit resting on it year after year. Not to mention the rigging of a temporary summer bracket outside every year. And where did I put the one from last year again??? So I went looking for something engineered for the job. Having an old farm house, this one caught my eye over and over as I researched. My initial question was is this really going to be worth paying 2 - 3 times the cost of support brackets at the big-box stores. That question was answered when the box arrived and I was shocked at how heavy and sturdy this bracket was. I could see that there was no doubt this would support that 50+ pound monster that I lugged in and up and out and down every spring and fall. Simple to assemble, well finished in a hard baked white enamel (it may even be powered coated- not sure) almost unlimited adjustment holes for the angle the unit will rest at, and a really study tray and frame catch bracket put my mind at ease immediately for both strength and return on investment. I expect this bracket to last for many summers to come. Spend the money once and get it over with.

I looked up a how to video on YouTube before purchasing, (which is not really very good at all considering it looks like it was uploaded by the manufacturer). I thought this was going to be so simple, just assemble and place in window, done! But no. My window has an inner metal frame and neither method of placing the shelf inside the windows frame or outside of it would work. It just left all kinds of gaps and empty spaces around the shelf, and around the accordian extenders on the air conditioner. Too bad, its sturdy construction and you just cant possibly put an AC in a window without some type of support, but every windows construction can be unique, and this shelf is not a one size fits all. I just recommend you study your window frame carefully before buying.
