If you were going to use their connector, and do no splicing, I am sure that this stuff is great. But if you plan on cutting it at all and doing any splicing, avoid and look elsewhere. The waterproof coating is absolutely impossible to get off.

Replaced exterior accent lighting on my camper. These were a perfect replacement. Easy to install by myself. They have good adhesive backing and are brighter than the old ones.

So I recently purchased a roll of these LEDs, as well as the Cool White 12V version. My project was to wire my new Matco Service Cart with blue LEDs underneath and white LEDs under the lid, wired to a magnetic switch on the N/O circuit. You open the lid, the magnets come apart, circuit closes, and the lights turn on. Close the lid, bye bye lights. Got all the wiring cut and crimped and tucked away nice and neat, and then attached the LEDs to their positions after wiping the surfaces down with mild soap, then water, then dry wipe. Whites have been up inside the lid since I put them there, not a single issue, but the blue... Well, they were all over the floor the morning after first install. I ran over half the strip with my carts wheel before I noticed, destroying a large portion of them. Cut a new line from the remainder of the roll, and encountered the same thing later in the day... blue LEDs drooping and coming off the cart. Ill probably order another roll and just see if I got some poor glue in a batch, or what the case may be. Aside from that issue, the lights seem real sturdy, plenty flexible, certainly bright enough and they throw a nice indirect glow. Wiring them into their little connectors is troublesome, so I ended up soldering leads together when I had to, simpler that way for me. All in all, Id recommend em if youre looking for some kind of lighty project.

The lights are nicely built and quick to install, but honestly, I was a little disappointed in the brightness level of these lights as compared with some others that Ive seen. Still a great value for the price if you dont mind them not being daytime bright.

I hadn’t intended to buy the waterproof version but glad I did because the waterproofing adds significantly to the overall strength/robustness of the strip. I wish they had provided a clue on how to remove the waterproofing when installing a connector and even YouTube is strangely vague on the topic. I found that a dremel tool with wire brush wheel works well for removing the waterproofing without damaging the strip by the way. Adhesive backing isn’t very strong but I think that is typical. No specs provided and I ended up using a double row to get the brightness I needed but they work fine. This was my first LED strip purchase and I’ll shop for better documented version next time but I’d buy these again though I expect I’ll always want a higher density version.

I purchased these to install under a homemade cabinet. These have only been used indoors so I cannot speak to their IP rating or their UV resistance as others have noted there may be concerns in those areas. For my application, they work perfectly. They were easy to install and soldering wire connections to a switch and 9V battery was simple. The adhesive was a bit lacking when applied to the pine cabinet surface, but I did not intend to use the adhesive alone and used mounting staples to keep them in place. If you are relying on the adhesive alone to hold these you may run into some frustration unless you have a smooth surface and install them on long straight runs. For my application this was not an issue, since I was using mechanical fasteners. Brightness running off a 9V battery was exactly what I was looking for - not bright enough to add accent in full sunlight or a brightly lit room, but for little to no ambient light (which is what my application is) they are perfect.

I used these to make an under water fishing light, hung it of the side of my dock under water. Wrapped lights around 1 1/2 PVC an covered with shrink tubing. Hooked up power supply for lights to dust to dawn sensor. They have been now working every night for two weeks. Much cheaper than the $500 light neighbor has at his dock but just as bright. Update 3/4 of lights stopped working after 3 weeks of use

First, the strip light itself is very attractive. I purchased this specific model because I have an outdoor application. The strip has a rubberized cover that protects the LEDs and contacts from the elements. HOWEVER, due to the bulky cover, it is not directly possible to use the strip connectors to tie strips together (or cut and splice). One has to completely remove the cover with a sharp knife and take care not to cut into the strip itself. All of the rubber has to come off to expose the contacts. I can already tell, after one connector fix, that its going to be a lot of work to turn this into 5 short segments with wires and connectors bridging them.
