I have two Samsung T7 Portable SSDs, a 1TB & 4TB. The 4TB blue one is used for music storage backup for my Hifi-Rose 150B Music Streamer/Server. The Red 1TB is used for Roon System Backups. Im not a power user so cant comment on large file transfer speeds, etc. Both of these fit my needs, take up little space, run fairly cool, and seem fast enough for transferring music and data files. Both have performed as advertised, so far. This is my first experience with SSDs, so keeping my fingers crossed.

I have a gaming laptop and needed some extra space to run solid works off of. I installed and run solidworks off of this SSD and it works and runs very well. No issues with lag or transfer rates either.

This drive lives up to its speed claims, right around 900mb/s on my iMacPro... but. The drive runs very hot, even when its idle. I have it sitting right next to its brother, a Samsung T5 2TB SSD and that drive never gets hot even when hiting it hard (temp right now is (87-degrees F) while the T7 is hitting 100+ degrees F at idle.

Just spent about 6 hours with Apple tech support as to why this SSD would not work with my M1 Mac. After reinstalling my OS twice, they finally concluded the problem is with the SSD. It turns out that Samsung requires that you install firmware on your Mac to make this operate. This requires going into the startup security utility and modifying the kernel. This is so anti-user-friendly. BTW, my other SSDs are plug and play. Awful design Samsung.

I could not load any files on the SSD and it crashes when I try to format it. I Looks like I flushed 300 down the drain. I hope Samsung has a warranty!

I got lucky buying this external drive. I am a gamer and my main drive was getting full and I wanted an SSD drive. So I bought this one. But I ended buying a usb expansion and two things happen with me realizing it. First was the expansion being a usbC expansion. 2nd even though you can connect this drive to regular usb ports, but you will not get the top speed unless you have a usbC port. I didnt know my PC had one until I looked at the USB expansion that I bought and realize it was usb C and found a usbc connector right in the front of my pc case. Connected it and that to the drive and the results has been amazing. I installed Cyberbunk 2077, Witcher 3 and many others and the loading speed is excellent. SO very good drive, but you will enjoy it more if you have USBC.

This drive repeatedly dies on my Macbook Pro it basically stops showing files and nothing will open after it is in use for awhile, you cant wake it up, you cant eject and remount it, you have to force eject or reboot and start all over again. In comparison I also use a SanDIsk Extreme 55AE Media which runs flawlessly all the time day after day. The Samsung has been one of the worst drives Ive ever bought. I only wish I had sent it back when I first got it. Using OS Mohave on 2013 MacBook Pro.
