Greater than one weekI was excited to install this ssd and replace my gd. I was even more excited to use the migration software from the mfgr, but after four hours of “ unknown interruptions “, I was really down! I kept deleting programs, and nothing helped. Samsung support said to reinstall Windows, and I said no way was I doing that! After reading online, I found a different free migration software, Macrium, and it worked perfect the first time!! So, I replaced my old hd with this new ssd, and wow! What a difference!!! It took 20 secs to start up, before it was 3:20!! Truly life changing, so worth it!!

> 3 dayhow this ssd is very fast. i installed it in my wifes new acer laptop after i bought it. she wanted something quicker and less problematic than her old hp. estimated windows shut down in 5 secs and boots up in less than 10 secs. probably the fact that it is in a modern system (coffee lake laptop) helps with its speed. however, it is for faster than my older crucial ssd in my coffee lake desktop. i did not use samsung software to clone the drive. i read some reviews with persons having difficulty using it but on analysis, they dont quite understand the process. for example, one review had similar specs to my wifes laptop: 1TB HDD. this is a 500GB SSD, therefore, u cannot clone a 1TB (1000GB) HDD on to a 500GB SSD. cloning means to make an identical copy but the sizes are not the same so it cannot be done. the 1TB HDD would have to be resized to 500GB. it just has been a week since it was installed but there is issues. i hope it stays that way. i installed samsung magician to update the firmware and provide information about the drive eg number of TeraBytesWritten (TBW) out of its total capacity.

> 3 dayLet me tell you--from a PC that normally would take about 40 seconds to a minute to boot up to the lock screen, this new SSD now gets my PC running in two seconds. Gaming feels beautiful and seamless, and even surfing the web is easier too. Downloading and installing anything goes at least 3 times faster.

> 3 dayI bought this 1 TB 860 EVO from Amazon on 12/14/2019 to upgrade a Dell i7 desktop running Windows 8.1. I installed the Samsung Magician software to manage it. I got the blue screen of death a couple of times a day. I put it in the junk box after 2 days. I recently tried to use the 860 EVO as a cache SSD for a large HDD under PrimoCache. At first, the EVO didnt show up under Windows Explorer or DISKMGMT, then it finally showed up. I set it up as L2 cache, then it disappeared after an hour. I tried replacing the SATA cable. No change. I put in a $25.99 Kingston 240 GB SSD and it has been working perfectly. I have purchased 9 SSDs from Amazon in the past 2 years, including an Intel OPTANE 905P, 3 Kingston, 2 Crucial, 1 Sandisk and 1 WD Blue. I use one Crucial for fast backups and used the other to upgrade a laptop. I have used Kingstons and the Sandisk for backups and to upgrade old laptops running Linux Mint. They are all working perfectly except for this EVO. I am happy for all of the happy reviewers. I obviously got a dud. I have had some pricey Samsung thumb drives get really slow or stop working while making daily backups. No more Samsung flash for me. I have had great luck with Kingston flash, both SSD and thumb drives. They are consistently fast, reliable, and economical.
