This is a replacement for the original that came with my Dell laptop some years ago. No problems so far. Does the job of charging my device without any hiccups. Satisfied with purchase.

The box on the charger is incredibly hot when plugged in, like hot to the point it hurts to touch. Only charges my laptop to 64% so not sure what’s that’s about? I recently replaced my laptop battery as it’s a few years old and just time for a new battery. I used the correct battery and everything seemingly went smoothly until I got the warning that my ac adapter type and wattage couldn’t be determined and google results pointed me to the solution being just needing a new charger. I’m wondering if this isn’t actually the genuine charger for my Inspiron 13 because of the fact it seems to not work correctly with my laptop. I’m also not comfortable using the charger as I’m worried about a fire potential given that the box of the charger gets to a much higher temperature than I’ve experienced with any other charger. Be warned when buying this charger, seems like some people have no issues and some raise a lot of concerns.

Since I got my laptop, a year ago, I always had to take the battery out so she would shut down properly. Otherwise she would not boot up. The power cord that came with my laptop burned out, so I got this one. The end piece not only fits into the power port better then the original power supply, but I no longer have to take the battery out to properly shut down my computer. I can’t say that I understand as to why. I would not think that a bad power supply would cause a computer to not shut down correctly. But, changing out power supply is the only change I made.

I wish that the charger had a replaceable low voltage cord because my kitten loves to teeth on it, but never on the 110-volt cord! A re[laceable cord would add a small cost to the entire assemble but would solve an expensive problem for owners of teething pets!

Works perfect

The original charger finally quit on my Inspiron 15 5584. It works perfectly and I was able to charge my laptop from 8% back to 100%.

When my laptop power cord gave it up I went to town to Best Buy and bought a new cord. It was $77 because it had about 6 different adapters so it would fit a multitude of computers. Not one of the adapters fit my computer. So, being desperate I went to Amazon, input my Brand of laptop and the series and up popped a cord for $29.00. AND it was guaranteed to be delivered in two days! And it fit perfectly! Value for the money is a 10, Cord length is a 10, but I havent used it long enough to be able to evaluate the durability.
