> 24 hourI bought these and the AKG 712 Pros and the Beyerdynamic DT880s headphones. The AKG 712s won the contest. The Beyerdynamic DT 880 came in second. These MEZE headphones are beautiful and come with 2 sets of cords and have the cords divide into the right and left inputs on the ear pieces. To be clear - these are quality headphones. However, I could not pull myself away from the spaciousness and reality of the AKGs. Also, to be clear, I am 65 years old and my hearing is a bit compromised. But, I had my wife ( who hears everything ) take a listen and she agreed. I listened to Billie Eilish, electronic EDM A sides and stuff like JP Saxe and Julia Pruitt. All of these are modern, high quality audio pieces. I listen through my iMac which feeds into the a Musicstream DAC and then into the Schiit Audio Magni amp. This also feeds my JBL Pro 5 powered speakers and a Jamo 8 sub. The sound I get with this without headphones is amazing. It is important to me that the headphones equal or surpass this. Sadly, the Meze dont quite reach this.

> 24 hourThey sound good. Crisper than my Bose wireless 700’s, which can sound a bit muddled. I’m just wondering if I can find something even better in the 300-500$ range for wired. Edit: I like them A Lot. I’m keeping them. I found it funny reading about people saying too much bass, while I felt the bass wasn’t prominent enough. I realize in retrospect that my perception had been tainted by how absurdly bass heavy most other headphones are. What changed my mind about these Meze 99? Listening to Radiohead’s “Amnesiac”, an album am familiar with since it’s release, and an album which is more bassy than Kid A. … these headphones have the perfect amount of bass. Not too much. Not too little.

> 24 hourThe balanced tonal quality of these headphones is the first thing that stands out. Add clarity, definition, range, great imaging, and terrific dynamics. These cans are efficient too! I pulled them out of the box - seriously, these are the best sounding out of the box headphones I’ve ever listened to - with my portable Oppo ha2 amp ready to go - - didn’t need it. My A&K 70 sounded just fine without the amp meaning: the 99s are super efficient. If I have to choose a word to paint a picture: Spectacular! And I own 15 pairs of headphones including all the past and present Sennheiser line, LCD-X and Focal Clear. I’m telling you, these cans are bad to the bone (props to George T for the line). Need more proof? My wife grabbed these, wouldn’t put them down and I just ordered a second pair. Best 309 I ever spent.

> 24 hourAbsolutely wonderful headphones. Paired it with my FIIO Amp and it gives me a full bodied sound. The balance between the bass, the mids, and the higher end is amazing for this price point. Love the amount of accessories it came with including different cables and an airplane adapter. The last headphones that I got with an airplane adapter were Bose Quietcomforts. These are miles above those with regards to sound quality. I found my new set of headphones for listening. These ones!

> 24 hourJust looking at them their a quality item. Very clear sound and comfortable. I live in a very small house and everyone else is in bed by 9. With these I feel like Im listening at a theater. Clear and loud. I take them off just to be sure none else can hear. The house is silent. Amazing.

> 24 hourThese sound as good as they look. They are also the most comfortable headphones Ive ever owned. They have bass that you can feel without taking away from the treble. If you like rock or other bass heavy music, get a pair of these. You can thank me later. They are so efficient that you can get great sound from them by just plugging them into your phone. They give me the wow factor that I was looking for. I returned a pair of the Hifiman Sundara because they didnt have any bass and required way too much power to drive.

> 24 hourI cant praise these headphones or the company enough. These are fully worth every penny because they are built to last, and have absolutely amazing sound quality with a perfect fit that makes them so incredibly comfortable. The only sad part that would make these headphones even better is the sound stage.. It feels lacking but personally, I have never felt it soured the experience in any way. These dont require a super fancy DAC or amp to fully enjoy them, you can even use your phone to drive these just perfectly. I would highly recommend these to anyone looking to dip their toes into Audiophile equipment.

> 24 hourThese are my first purchase of audiophile grade headphones and these have surpassed any expectations I had. Blah blah blah, I could tell you all about myself but Id rather focus on the product here. I will say that although I have worked my way up the chain for home stereo listening, for years Ive listened to MP3s on my phone with cheap-ass ear buds. I mainly use the Meze 99s at work and have three listening options - turntable, PC and newly purchased iBasso DX80. My previous pair of headphones was a pair of Jabra Bluetooth so I was able to do some comparison. The Meze 99s blew me away! I listen to anything from classical (DSDs & vinyl) to recordings of music from the early 1900s sourced directly from 78. There is a lot in between there, too, like early Jazz, Electronica (mainly early Industrial), 60s/70s rock and a lot of 70s/80s punk and hardcore music. These Meze 99s surprised the heck out of me as the mastering/source quality is all over the place from track to track but I was able to hear an improvement almost everything - there was more to the music that Ive ever heard before. Enjoying everything so far Im now dusting off numerous things I havent listened to in years to see what it sounds like in this new light. I really like the construction as well. They easily adjust without any intervention to any head size. I also find them to be very comfortable over my ears, seems like the pads that come with are the perfect size for my ears. I would absolutely recommend these to anyone stepping into the world of high-end headphones. I do have one regret - I wish I bought the maple/silver...whaaa me, that is only aesthetics and really, when listening to them I dont have to look at them.

> 24 hourThe headphones were provided in a high quality carry case and the build quality of the headphones is also of high quality. The headphones had garnered a number of great reviews from various review sources and I can see why. I cant compare them to more expensive headphones, but for the price point, they sound good and I am happy with the purchase.
