I purchased this used but still under warranty. I wanted the TB model versus the TBS because this model has the ability to plug in audio. I am having some issues with it and am still undecided if it is defective or if just, in general, is a bit of a problematic product. I purchased this around Thanksgiving but did not receive my brand new Dell computer until weeks later and my brand new Dell 27 QHD monitor only days ago. Fortunately, if I determine that the unit is defective I have until Jan 31 to return it because it was expensive and for the same amount of money, I can purchase a guaranteed new TBS model. I am trying to be reasonable and make sure I fully test it. The good it is compact and has a good amount of ports on it. The bad it makes noise - fan noise - that does not seem normal to me. Also anytime you power down the computer the dock forgets everything and I have to unplug everything hold the power button on the dock for 45 seconds, hear it make the fan noise and then replug in everything and start again. I am not about to do this daily defeats the whole purpose of having a dock. More bad -- my webcam - a logitech does not work plugged in the dock. I ended up purchasing a usb 3 hub that I have plugged into my computer and then, and nl then, is the webcam recognized. Now I have to find another USB item to test that port on the dock to make sure it is not defective. At this point, the bad points outweigh the good. NOw that i Have the new laptop and monitor I can perform some more tests and will update this review after trying it out a few more times.

Does not seem to be designed by people who might actually use it. Most annoying, the thunderbolt cable comes out of the left of the dock and the DELL laptops that I have all have the Thunderbolt port on the left... so no matter what you do, the cable has to wrap around the dock or wrap around the laptop, in which case it is barely long enough. Also, this needs a USB hub to go with it, as it only has 2 USB3.0 ports, one in the front and one in the back. Unless this has changed recently, DELL laptops need driver updates to support Thunderbolt, so this does not work out-of-the-box.

I purchased two of these: one for home and one for the office. The fan noise problem caused me to purchase one again. Then, later my second monitor started blanking out itermittently. Both of them had to be replaced. My laptop is Dell, Docking station (of course) is Dell, second monitor is Dell. Nothing that Ive tried works to fix the problem.

Bought this docking station to increase the available ports and to utilize multiple monitors. Had it for a couple of weeks and it has not disapointed at all.

I never write reviews but I wanted to warn everyone about this POS. I bought this dock for my Dell 7390 laptop, for which it is recommended. And it mostly works when the computer is plugged in (although it doesnt recognize my Logitech webcam). But for some reason, the dock DOES NOT CHARGE connected devices unless the computer is plugged in. Unplug the Thunderbolt cable from your computer, and your cell phone, earbuds, and anything else connected to the dock stops charging. How dumb is that? It is so dumb that I ordered the same unit as a replacement because I couldnt believe it was the intended function. And they both do the same thing. So in the end, I guess Im dumb. Hopefully this helps you avoid my mistake. After I returned both, I bought the Anker 13-in1 which works like a champ. Save yourself the hassle and just go for a different product.

Mine works great, and I can pump out my laptop to three monitors without issue. But I used to work for a company that uses these, and we had an uncomfortable large number be lemons. When it works it works. Be aware though, this one lets you use three external monitors (you can use two externals and the laptop monitor still), the non-TB versions do not. If you only have two monitors, save yourself the 100 bucks and buy the non-TB. If you want three external monitors, get this one, the non-TB ones wont work at full resolution for the third monitor.

I purchased this docking station to run two 4K displays and a handful of peripherals from a Dell Latitude 7490 laptop with Thunderbolt 3. As an experiment I plugged in a 2019 15 MacBook Pro to see if it would also work. Initially I had an issue where both 4K displays were mirroring the same activity instead of working independently. The system preferences provided no solution (neither Detect Displays worked nor the Mirror Displays checkbox—it was unchecked). I reviewed my connections. I was using the two display port connectors on the dock to run the two 4K displays. After some Googling I learned this configuration will not work as both display port connectors are on the same bus. To run both 4K displays each must be on its own bus. I had an extra Thunderbolt 3 to HDMI cable on hand. After removing one of the display port cables then using the Thunderbolt 3 to HDMI cable, which is on a separate bus, the issue was resolved! Now I can simply plug the main Thunderbolt 3 cable that comes out of the dock into either the MacBook Pro or the Dell Latitude 7490 and all the peripherals connected to the dock work with either laptop. This is fantastic!

Great docking station that allows me to have my two external monitors and the laptop monitor all working, and additional ports help a lot. A more expensive than a simple port replicator with extra USB’s, but it does a great job.

Tried the CalDigit USB-C Pro dock first based on the Wirecutter review, but it didnt have enough power (only 85W) to support charging the laptop (via USB-C), and other functions like ethernet were unstable. The Dell WD19TB dock charges the laptop and adds lots of additional ports through the single USB-C cable. Has been working well for the past 2 months. Note that the dock supports Thunderbolt. My Dell 7501 model doesnt have Thunderbolt so it shows a warning at every boot that the full functionality of the dock is not available (e.g., higher USB-C data speed). A minor nuisance. Glad I found it!
