My company sent a new laptop and docking station to replace my 4 year old one. I spent 6 hours troubleshooting why my 3 display configuration would only run one 1080 display correctly at a time. After much mucking about and researching, I discovered they saved $10 by ordering the docking station that doesnt support Thunderbolt v3.x. This meant it could not run multiple HD displays properly. The WD19TB is the one they should have sent me from the beginning, but then I wouldnt have learned the intricate details of maximum throughput of USB 3, or Thunderbolt v3.x, and the implications for driving multiple displays (or 4k). I dont know why the WD19 exists. People should be spending the extra ten bucks to get something that gives them the capability of docking stations that were created a decade ago.

I purchased two of these: one for home and one for the office. The fan noise problem caused me to purchase one again. Then, later my second monitor started blanking out itermittently. Both of them had to be replaced. My laptop is Dell, Docking station (of course) is Dell, second monitor is Dell. Nothing that Ive tried works to fix the problem.

    Greater than one week

I was expecting a NEW docking station, instead what I got was one that was totally scratched and had a chunk missing out of one edge. I am returning for a replacement (hopefully will get a NEW one this time). If not, Ill return that as well. It has rusted screws on the bottom! Smells like cigarette smoke as well. Super nasty.

Once you download the latest drivers for this dock, its bulletproof! I keep my XPS 15 hidden under my desk, closed. the dock has a its own power button, so when I power down for the day its ready to start up by just pushing the power button on the dock which I keep on my desk out of the way . Ive got two 27 Dell HD monitors. But you are at the mercy of the video card in your laptop will determine monitor capabilities.

The docking station works well with the exception that it doesnt allow monitors to be recognized on start up. When the laptop wakes up, rebooted, or started up the monitors are not recognized. I have to unplug the HDMI cable from the back of the monitors and plug back in for them to be recognized. I have now set my sleep mode to 2 hours to avoid having to do this throughout the day. I have bypassed the docking station with a cable and the monitors get recognized as they should. I also have an older docking station at the office that works like it should upon start up.

This is Dells flagship dock and it cant be used within 10 feet of someone trying to concentrate. Or in the cube next to someone trying to concentrate. Mine sounds like a small jet engine taking off. It is literally louder than my 3d printer. When the PC is asleep, the dock still cycles into high speed fan mode regularly, indicating this was a massive fail writing firmware. No excuse for no fix for this, even if it is only 5% percent of the units. Read up elsewhere, this is commonly reported and never fixed. Get it together Dell!

Didn’t need tech support. Worked right out of the box.
