> 3 daySummary: The docking station is sleek, low profile, and if you are using a lighter load, this may work well for you. It fails to perform consistently when trying to use the docking station at its full potential (utilizing all the ports). Keyboard consistently cuts out, lags, and tries to correct itself, sometimes repeating the same character over and over. Feedback via sound systems and a fickle power supply to USB Connect devices seems to be the root cause of the issue. These issues did not exist with other docking stations. For the price, you would expect better reliability... For reference, Im plugging in three monitors, 2 27 in, on IPS 1 TN (Both using the 2 DisplayPort), and 1 24 TN Monitor (HDMI), a keyboard, a mouse, and a Studio 192 Audio System. I could plug in a webcam, but its already struggling with this load. With the load described, the audio coming from my audio system is choppy (occasional yet consistent feedback fuzz) and my keyboard randomly turns off and on, none of which ever occurred with other less expensive docking stations (however, those were only running two monitors via DVI and HDMI). Even without the audio interface on, the keyboard issue persists. I am building a pc, so I anticipate to go back to my old docking station for my work laptop and giving this one to my fiancé her desk. She puts far less stress on the docking station, so it works perfectly for her. I, however, am doing music and video production, development and gaming, along with other basic tasks along the way. Im tempted to try another docking station to fit my needs in the meantime, but I think the smart plan is to wait, build my pc, then put a light load on the docking station for my work laptop. Its unfortunate that this docking station did not workout well for me, but at least my fiancé gets a sleek docking station.

> 3 day2 months after the 2-yr warranty expired, this docking station stopped functioning. The USB ports stopped working and the unit quit recharging my laptop. The only peripherals it is maintaining are the ethernet and the displayport. I spent a lot of money because it was Dell, a name I thought I could trust. I wont buy Dell again.

02-11-2024I bought one of these for my wifes home office, and the docking station just died and quit working after about a year of use. I got the same model for my home office, and am waiting to see if it does the same for me after some short amount of time. We use the same model at work, and they all seem to perform well there; however, Im still unsure of how well they stand up under normal office environment abuse. Ill report back if anything noteworthy occurs with them...

> 3 dayProduct works well. It is a little bit big but I knew that before buying. The thing I do not like is the loud and sudden fan noice that lasts for some seconds...I wonder why they did not use the same hardware to make a better heat management system, and perhaps turn on the fan for more time but on lower speeds....

> 3 dayI have a MacBook Pro so the TB3 thing was a must for me. While this dock supply’s enough power, you will not plug-in two display port or hdmi monitors and have dual monitors. They just mirror. I had to purchase another TB3 adapter to get them work like I expected, and now my only TB3 port is taken up. Go figure. I probably wouldn’t buy it again. I also think some of the USB ports are just for power, which seems really odd to have such an expensive dock that only provides power to certain ports. That was a big shock. You might better luck if you are a PC user.

> 3 dayOther aftermarket units failed. As per Dells tech support recommendation, I purchased this. (Im running external monitor and ethernet plus various USB connections. The Dell 7300 Latitude only has USB C so you must have some kind of dock.) While it works -- except for USB A to C audio cable which I have to plug directly into the laptop -- its fine. But the thing weighs more than the Laptop! And the cables are large and difficult to dress them to tidy up the mess of wires. Dell needs to work on design...

> 3 daycan we all just take a moment to appreciate that this docking station presumably used to replace a full PC workstation in a business environment has the single worst functionality ever? 3 USB plugs. 2 of which are so close together only 2 of my 18 (yes, you read that correctly, 18) device USB plugs will both fit in those two stacked USB ports at the same time. But it gets even better! After plugging in two USB devices, then removing one of them, the USB plugs plastic bit came off with the USB device plug, so now my brick of horrid only has two functioning USB ports. /golfclap I bought a dell laptop once, a long long time ago, for personal use. I have never purchased a dell laptop for myself since. Im pleased to see that my brand avoidance was well considered if two decades on Im still running into a complete and total disconnect of design and use from dell. then we have some plugs on the back, and some plugs on the front... so this small profile brick manages to require more space than my previous lenovo full sized laptop docking station. the mind boggles at the engineering gymnastics required for such an end result to make it into production. Lets call this what it is. Its a power transformer. full stop. this is not under any definition a laptop docking station. convince me otherwise, i dare ya.
