Greater than one weekJust heard about Walrus Oil from a fellow woodworker. Decided to give it a try. Refinished a cutting board. The end result was terrific. Brought out the deep rich tones of the wood. Extra plus is that it is FDA rate for food contact.

> 3 dayI had some older kitchen knives, and related tools, with wood handles, that had not been treated well. They were dried out and rough, but not to the point of cracking (yet). I wanted to save them with a food safe product and chose the Walrus Oil Cutting Board Oil to try. I sanded down the handles to 220 grit to smooth them, and applied the Walrus Oil with a rag. It soaked right in. I wiped off any excess after a few minutes. After letting them dry for 24 hours, I did this again, buffing the handles with a dry rag at the end. The instructions did not say that the second coat was necessary (limited instructions on the bottle and at the company website), but I wanted to do this. The handles immediately took on a dark, smooth finish, comparable to newer, well-cared for knives. Along with better care (no more dishwasher trips), the Walrus Oil helped me save several knives and kitchen tools. It was very easy to do.

Greater than one weekthis works sooo much better than just a bottle of food grade mineral oil. It is a thicker liquid, just a dab on the board, then spread entire board with a cloth. As for me, I half a new 1 thick cutting board, and I am leaving a thin coat on the surface for a few weeks, to really let the oil soak in. Once a day I take the same cloth and smear the oil around, look closely every day and you will see areas that are thirsty for more oil.

> 3 dayThis is a really nice product for oiling wood. However, the dispensing hole in the top of the container is very large, so its difficult to use the product sparingly -- it just gushes out. And the bottle is lightweight, so if youre not careful to cap it while in use and accidentally knock it over, youll have a high volume of spilled oil due to the large hole. For this, I downgraded it to 4 stars. I usually apply oil directly to the wood then rub it in with my hands. With this I think it would be better to put some in a small bowl and apply either with a cloth or fingertips from there to avoid wasting so much of the product.

> 3 dayI had an old cutting board that had never been treated after it was purchased. After 2 pretty heavy coats over 3 days the board was very sealed. Since those initial treatments Ive done one more light coat after many washings. Very satisfied!

> 3 dayRevitalizes my wooden boards and also adds a layer of water repellency, which makes me feel like the protection offered is super real. Nice liquid consistency, very easy to apply and spread around. I wont use anything else!
