Ok, so Im kidding on the whole Cover my eyes thing, but this movie isnt for everyone. I just happen to be a fan of wooden acting, terrible random dance scenes, and anything featuring Kristin Minter. I suggest buying this, having way too much to drink, and remembering the good old days of when Ice was ruling the world, and bad haircuts were generally considered awesome.

This was a good movie that starred one of my favorite rap singers Vanilla Ice. It seems that I get a great feeling or I am taken back in time whenever I watch a 80s/90s movie or even listen to the music back then. Vanilla Ice played a cool, hip but good guy who developed feelings for a female who is about to attend college, lives with strict but good parents and curious brother, and has an arrogant boyfriend. Fortunately, she started becoming happier and finding out who she really is when she started spending time with Vanilla Ices character. Her parents did not like and accept him until the near end when he rescued their son and her brother from gangsters.

As I saw this movie as a child I told my children about it and so we looked everywhere for it. Amazon was the only place we were able to find it. The kids loved it

This film shows the advent of the single blow door knock. Throughout human history we have wasted time, knuckles and paint by hitting the door over and over until you are greeted by an occupant. Well now we have been shown the light. Simply striking a door only one time with the bottom of your first you see that you receive just as prompt greeting as with the multiple knocking style minus the stress to structure and skeletal system.

The only reason Cool as Ice gets the almost award is because everyone knows the best film ever made is Road House with Patrick Swayze. If you are waiting for your new Road House DVD (because the other one wore out) or letting it cool down because the of the laser heat, you should be watching Cool as Ice. Not since the release of the Where is Waldo? series on books on tape has there been a more anticipated release. This new DVD brings Robert Van Winkles acting talent to the masses. VHS of this movie could be found in the $100.00 range. This is the 1991 story of a misunderstood tough guy with a good hart, Johnny Van Owen, falling in love with a goody-two shoes honor student, Kathy, who is hotter than her GPA would suggest. Ironically, Kathys parents hide a dark secret. The movie has been compared to a modern day Rebel Without a Cause; but this does a disservice to Cool as Ice. The only similarities are a leather jacket and a motorcycle. The supporting cast is rounded out by cant miss favorites Michael Gross (Family Ties), Bobby Brown, and Naomi Campbell. This addition includes the music sound track on a seperate CD. This allows you to appricate the quality of the sound track independant of the film. It is tight, moving and really the voice of early-1990s middle class suburban white teenage angst. By not relying on his prior hits, Vanilla Ice shows you his musical range and provides a personal journey into his soul. He also is proud about achieving a Peoples Choice Award as it is mentioned several times in two songs and is the title of one of the ditties. His ability to say VIP 37 times in one song is a testiment to his impact on the Rap community. Vanilla Ice made it possible for people like Marshall Mathers to be taken seriously as rap artists.

This 1990s remake of Rebel Without A Cause is a work of art in both characterization and nuanced cinematography.

How much praise can one heap on single movie? In Cool As Ice, Vanilla Ice (Van Winkle)clearly demonstrates that he is the master of two mediums with his singing and acting talents filling the 90 minutes to the delight of fans and would-be fans across the globe! I found the story line compelling: Ice must help an ailing damsel in distress find her kidnapped brother. It was an appealing vignette of 90s amoral sexuality, a time when both men and women were struggling to define their roles in society and doing so at the cost of true palatable love. The masochistic Ice character plays off well against the feisty, yet coy Kat, and the two eventually wind up falling in love. Fans of Bergman will see similarities to the characters in Wild Strawberries. The appeal of this movie is broad. I took my niece to see the advanced screening and she alternately laughed at the well timed comedy, and swayed to the hip hop rhythms of Ices singing. But the deeper meaning of the movie was not lost to the audience. You better drop that zero and get with the hero is anecdotal of a culture of political conservatism that was gripping the country at the time (1991), and I cant help but think of the impact that this movie had on ushering in the Clinton administration into office. Check out the DVD and youll see what I mean. Truly a treat for the art house crowd!
