All Things Urban Fantasy BLOOD LUST is another excellent, bold, action-packed installment of The Sentinels series. I love when we are given the opportunity to see interesting side characters from previous books get their own book. For BLOOD LUST we get Bas, a mysterious assassin who caught my eye earlier in this series. I liked how there was a role reversal of sorts with the man being left with a baby and the woman leaving only to return some years later. Bas comes off as a very dedicated and protective father which is an interesting contrast to his assassin career. Myst, the mother of Bass daughter Molly, is a puzzle whos backstory is central to the riveting plot. The conflict the had to overcome in their relationship was obvious. Who wouldnt be upset if the mother/father of your kid suddenly reappears after leaving for years without reasons. Luckily they do sit down and talk out the reasons for their emotions and actions which seemed pretty realistic. And as Myst actually explained her reasons for being essentially a dead-beat mom I warmed up to her a lot and took back my dead-beat mom thoughts! Now, the book wasnt talking a dispensing of feelings. The plot revolves around a prophecy involving a humans-only cult who fear the powered individuals. As Bas and Myst try to rekindle their feelings they are thrown head first into a world ending plot full of close calls, twists, and tons of wonderfully tense moments that had me wondering if theyd make it in the end. In the midst of this plot Bas and Myst are able to rekindle their romance which was a touch too much of the insta-love trope. But they fit so well together that I didnt really mind. BLOOD LUST was a very enjoyable read filled with action, suspense, and romance.

Finally a complete book. This book deserves a review that does not tell the story because it does a good job on its own. This was a wild ride if you like characters that do not always think drinking the Kool Aid is an ideal choice. This is a shiny beam of light delivered by fantasy and hope. I loved this book because of a man willing to give his family all that he could even when that meant pulling support from his past and a woman that was aware that she was strong enough to protect and move in a direction that could mean thriving. I wrote this not to spoil the adventure but to to say that it was a worthy wonderful ride for me.

This was my first time reading this series and it was quite the page turner. This book was full of magic, adventure, the bonds that bring people together, love and steamy sex scenes. I always enjoy reading anything by Alexandra Ivy and cant wait to read what she writes next!

3.5 stars! This is an engrossing tale that moved along at a very quick pace, a very easy to read book! It seems much shorter than it is. The characters are likable, I just wish we had more Bas, Myst and Molly. While this can be read as a standalone, I suggest starting at the beginning. I think I would have gotten more out of it had I been up to date with the series. After finishing, I am still not exactly sure what a High Blood actually is, other than it can be anything from a psychic to a witch. The plot was not as predictable as I thought it was as I was reading, or I at least half way predicted it. All in all, an enjoyable read, I just recommend you start at the beginning. This is an extremely sexy and action packed romance. Bas and Mysts story is wonderful, and there are other strong sparks in the air from noteworthy sub-characters like the Mave and the Tagos, worthy of their own book (hint-hint). I love it! I did receive an ebook from NetGalley and this books publisher for my review. No problem, as I admire Ms. Ivy, and her romances are fantastic!

Blood Lust is the third book in The Sentinels and I think this series is actually getting better as it goes along. This book centers around Bas and Myst. Bas was introduced in the second book and was actually one of the villains. I actually enjoy a complex villain and his deep love for his daughter made him a lot more than a card board villain so I was curious to see where this book would go and I hoped that Bas would remain a grey character and not be too thoroughly redeemed. Myst and Bas had a one night stand and then she disappeared only to drop off a baby to Bas nine months later. Bas raised his daughter and although he searched for Myst after a while he began to think of her as selfish. Myst stayed in telepathic contact with her daughter and had her own reasons for leaving Molly with Bas. This book takes place shortly after the second book when Bas has rescued his daughter from the kidnappers. Myst has suddenly shown up to spend time with her daughter and while Bas and Myst are still attracted to each other, Bas doesnt want Myst in his or Mollys life. Bas soon finds out that Myst has been on the run from the brotherhood (A group of humans who want to destroy the high bloods) and desperately trying to stop a vision of the future that has her creating a weapon that will destroy the high bloods. We are taken on an adventure with Bas and Myst to stop the vision and the brotherhood. I enjoyed both Bas and Myst. Bas never apologized for what he was and what he was willing to do to keep his daughter safe. He isnt a good guy and yet he isnt a bad guy either but somewhere in the middle and I enjoy the complexity of those characters. Myst has had a tough life and doesnt trust easily. She is strong and yet at the same time doesnt have the skills/ability to take on the brotherhood alone. Neither character is shown as indestructible (which was great) and yet both are willing to do whatever it takes. I enjoyed the romance between the two although it happened a bit too instantly for my tastes and I wold have liked it to grow at a slower pace. The plot was interesting and although it was fairly obvious what the weapon was going to be by the half way point I still enjoyed it. I also loved the scenes between Wolf and Lana and cant wait for their book! Thanks to Net Galley and the publisher for gifting me this book in return for an honest review
