this is the third book in teh Sentinels series by author Alexandra Ivy. Blood Lust has the story of Bas a bad boy assassin with a heart of gold and Molly the woman who can take and tame the bad boy inside of Bas. I liked that Molly though sweet and innocent she can really stand up and fihtt on her own terms. She is not a door mat to be walked on. There are many layers to this book. I had to concentrate on the love story aspect of this one because I have not read the previous books. I would suggest reading them in order cause you could be like me and have moments when you are lost if you do not. But over all an action packed story with lots of love and emotional angst.

This book is book 3 of the Sentinels series. This book is a continuation of the battle of good and evil with human with a little something extra. Bas our leading man is an Assassin with a daughter that is kidnapped. Not only due we have a kidnapping but a hot romance between Bas and Myst his daughter mother. Myst has secrets but maybe its time to come clean and claim her family. Another exciting romance from this author and a great addition in this series . Lisa

I normally enjoy her books however this one was quite draggy & I felt the stereo typical testosterone violent male & weak damsel in distress female characters were boring. Hope the next ones better.

I always look forward to Ms. Ivys books because she is a master at weaving details, hidden clues, mystery and smoking hot romance into a plot line that reels a reader in completely and theres always something new and interesting in each of them. BLOOD LUST certainly has all that - great storytelling, hot romance and lots of heart. Sentinel assassin, Bas has been declared a wanted man by Valhalla but hes going to need the help of the powers that be to take on their common enemy, the Brotherhood and ensure the safety of his daughter and her mother, the woman who has consumed him for the last five years. Myst only hoped to get job when she came to Bas but she got more than she planned for and to save her daughters life, she brought her to her father and disappeared. Haunted all her life by the Brotherhood to be used as a tool for world dominion, Myst has been searching for a way out and with no solution in sight, she has decided on a very permanent solution, but first she has to say her goodbyes to her loved ones. But Bas is not letting her go without a fight, even if it means a temporary alliance with his enemies. I certainly wasnt a fan of Bas from the previous book but he won me over finally and made me see him as more than just a soulless mercenary. He still doesnt play by the rules, is still out for number one, but his devotion to his daughter is undeniable. His feelings for Myst have made her his second weakness but hell fight to the death to protect both of them. What Myst lacks physically she makes up for with her inner strength and determination and even Bas has his work cut out for him trying to keep her in line. BLOOD LUST certainly is not as action-packed as the previous installments in the series but it more than makes up for that with the heartwarming feelings induced by the interactions between Bas, Myst and the enchanting Molly. I loved untangling the threads of the mystery and have to give Ms. Ivy kudos for making that a unique and unexpected twist to the whole story. In addition, we are teased endlessly with the air-sucking chemistry between the Mave and her Tagos and I cant wait for their story. As usual, while each book stands alone Ill recommend reading the series in order so as to keep track of the ongoing story arc. With all the deliciousness the series has to offer, why not? BLOOD LUST is the third installment in Alexandra Ivy’s adult The Sentinels paranormal, romance series focusing on a rare supernatural species known as high bloods –blessed (and cursed) with powers and magical abilities. To protect the high bloods from themselves and discrimination from the outside world and the human organization known as the Brotherhood, the ‘freaks’ and ‘mutations’ are secluded in the domed city of Valhalla organized with a social infrastructure and hierarchy of Sentinels, Assassins and more. This is assassin Bas, and clairvoyant Myst’s second chance story line. BLOOD LUST can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information is revealed where necessary. Told from several third person perspectives BLOOD LUST follows the rebuilding of the relationship between Bas and Myst. Approximately five years earlier, Myst found herself on the run from the Brotherhood, a fanatical group of humans bent on destroying the high-bloods of the world. Enter Bas, the man she ran to for protection and the man that would father her child during a one-night stand. Fast forward to present day, Myst is still on the run but hopes to see her daughter one final time before searching for the truth about her fated visions, and the weapon that could destroy the world. What ensues is the search for the Brotherhood, and the rekindling of the relationship between Myst and Bas. Although I am not a clairvoyant, I immediately guessed the source of the weapon ;) . We are introduced to Bas’s best friend Kaede, a man who has sworn fealty to the high-blood assassin; Molly, Bas and Myst’s five year old daughter and not without some power of her own; Lana-the high blood Mave who is the high-blood leader; and Wolfe-Mave’s guardian (and Tagos) and the man who has pledged his life and his love for the woman in charge. The requisite evil belongs to Stella-the leader of the Brotherhood, and a woman who claims she can speak to God. The world building continues to focus on the discrimination against those who are different but also introduces two new ‘powers’ that have remained hidden for a very long time. BLOOD LUST is an exciting, emotional and entertaining story about friendship and family, truth and lies, forgiveness and love. The premise is imaginative and energetic; the characters are passionate and charismatic; the romance is a second chance for two people brought together by a common evil.

I really loved the world of The Sentinels and how Alexandra Iva has built up the characters and their history. But the characters themselves, I just had a hard time engaging with.

The chemistry between Bas and Myst are off the charts, always have been. It is the years of hurt that they have to overcome. Can they face the newest threat to their family together? Or will it tear them apart forever? The best thing about this series is the side characters- Lana, Wolfe, Kaede. Each of them played an important role in the story. They each played an important role in the last book as well. When oh when will they get their own story? This series has the potential to be endless, as so far each new book is about another couple with in the Valhalla realm. Blood Lust was a thrilling ride from the first page to the last. I would recommend starting with the first book in the series, and reading the novellas that have been published. It will give you a better foundation for the world that the high-bloods and Sentinels live in. For Full Review: [...]

    * I received a copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley for the purpose of an honest review. Okay, so if you’ve been keeping up with The Sentinals series then you know that Bas is a high blood who doesn’t follow the rules; he makes them. His onetime hookup with a woman known as Myst resulted in a daughter named Molly that Bas had to raise alone after Myst dropped her on his doorstep as an infant. Now Myst has returned to spend time with their daughter and hopefully avoid the vision she’s been haunted by, a vision that says she will create a weapon that will destroy the world. Okay, so Bas was the leader of a shadow society of high bloods who don’t want to follow the rules that were created to keep them and the humans safe. That has disaster written all over it right? Well yeah, almost from the start Blood Lust dropped me into total chaos with Bas and Myst reuniting and reluctantly calling a truce to their hostilities in order to deal with a bigger problem and in the process they get their hands all over each other again, cause you know, one time wasn’t enough for these two. I loved the tension between these two so much because it was so well done. There was tons of unfinished business between them, yet they had to prioritize their needs against their daughter’s. Bas wasn’t used to having someone like Myst stand up to him because, hello High Blood Assassin, but it was entertaining to watch them clash. Bas needed to be put in his place because as sexy as this guy was, he was arrogant and dismissive of anyone that wasn’t him or his daughter. Of course part of Bas’ charm was his dry sense of humor that would pop up at unusual times. Myst didn’t exactly lack in the humor department either. She was more than capable of matching Bas’ sarcasm with a few snarky responses that sometimes caught him off guard. I’m so glad that Alexandra Ivy paired the very alpha Bas with the iron willed Myst because he would have stomped all over a lesser female. Where Bas was the physical strength, Myst was the intellectual strength and I loved that balance between them. That’s not to say Myst was a slouch at fighting because she wasn’t, she just had different methods. She was definitely one of those characters who made the best out of a bad situation but she’s been a loner for most of her life so connecting with others was new to her and I loved watching her learn that there were people she could count on. There’s always something going on in an Ivy book and Blood Lust was no exception. The main story is of course Bas and Myst’s journey to find out how to stop her vision from coming true but there’s also the accompanying story (and budding… something) of Lana, otherwise known as the Mave, aka the leader of the high bloods and Wolfe, the leader of the Sentinals. He seems to be the only one not intimidated by her power and there’s an attraction between them for sure. Really though, I loved how Bas went from despicable in the previous book, to reluctant and totally likable hero in this one. Ivy took his one positive quality which was his love for his daughter and used it as a stepping stone towards redeeming this dangerous, selfish, and cold character and I loved every step of the way. Bas and Myst weren’t the easiest couple but they are one of the most fun. The push and pull between them and the fun of watching them find their feet while co-parenting their daughter was worth the wait.

Book three to Alexandra Ivys Sentinel series Blood Lust follows Bas and his adorable daughter Molly (whom we meet in the last book). Waiting a year for each book is worth the wait, this is one of those series I keep on eye out for, I stalk Netgalley and Facebook for any information the newest book. Bas was just dark and mysterious enough in Blood Assassin to make my anticipation for this book pretty intense. It was worth it. Bas was raised an assassin, trained not like the others but more lethal than his sentinel counterparts. Bas had a difference of opinion with The Mage, Lana, a former friend and lover and was cast out of the high blood society. Bas is willing to go to any lengths to get what he wants and he succeeds in business but five years ago he met an irresistible young woman had one glorious night with her; he was willing to give her everything only to find her missing the next morning. Nine months later there is a baby girl on his doorstep. Bas assumed the worst about Myst and never expects to see her again. Unbeknownst to Bas during Mollys kidnapping she was so scared she reached out to her mother and found her since then they have been in telepathic contact. Myst knowing her daughter needs her returns but trouble follows Myst where ever she goes that is why she stayed gone for so long. Myst finally confides the truth to Bas of why she disappeared and why she left Molly behind. Bas does the only thing he can to keep Myst and Molly safe he calls in Lana and the Sentinels for help. Overall, this was a great read. I love Bas and Myst together they compliment each other well and Molly is such an adorable.
