Blood Lust (The Sentinels Book 3)

> 3 dayFinally a complete book. This book deserves a review that does not tell the story because it does a good job on its own. This was a wild ride if you like characters that do not always think drinking the Kool Aid is an ideal choice. This is a shiny beam of light delivered by fantasy and hope. I loved this book because of a man willing to give his family all that he could even when that meant pulling support from his past and a woman that was aware that she was strong enough to protect and move in a direction that could mean thriving. I wrote this not to spoil the adventure but to to say that it was a worthy wonderful ride for me.

> 3 dayBlood Lust by Alexandra Ivy is the 3rd novel in the Sentinel series. This book takes place shortly after the previous book, Blood Assassin, ended and features Bas, the father who, we discovered in Blood Assassin, would stop at nothing to get his daughter Molly back, and Molly’s mysterious and allusive mother Myst. I wasn’t sure how I would feel about a book with Bas as the hero. I didn’t agree with all of his methods in the previous book but I understood his reasoning. I have to say that while I didn’t really like him in Blood Assassin, I quite liked him in this book. He was no long the semi bad guy but a fully flushed character with substance and emotions. I also really liked Myst and found her story to be both interesting and heartbreaking. Blood Lust is a great addition to the series. I thoroughly enjoyed it. It is entertaining, fast paced, sexy and moving. Bas and Myst suited each other perfectly and I loved seeing them become the couple they were always meant to be. Blood Lust is about Myst’s search for a weapon, one that could be used against the high bloods. Hampering her search is the Brotherhood’s relentless pursuit of her. But Bas isn’t about to let Myst out of his sight again and joins her as they work together to find the weapon and elude the Brotherhood. My only disappointment in Blood Lust was that the mystery seemed rather obvious. But it didn’t detract from the overall story and I look forward to the next book in the series. I would recommend Blood Lust to fans of the Sentinel series. *ARC (Advanced Review Copy) received from the publisher, Kensington Books, via NetGalley.

Greater than one weekWhat can I say about Blood Lust? This book is sexy. It is action packed. It will keep you guessing and dying to know what will happen next!! Now, if you know me, then you know that I am always and I mean always on the look out for an exciting paranormal romance. This is my first book by this author and after reading Blood Lust, I can not wait to read more!! Blood Lust pulls you in from the very first page. This story is well written and entertaining. From the moment you are introduced to Bas and Myst, you are dying to know more. These two share a history. One that can not be forgotten and the pain from their mistakes, unforgiven. However, things are not always what they seem. Myst has her reasons for doing what she did. A vision that she has, has the power to change the course of her life forever….. Blood Lust gave me everything I was looking for in a great paranormal read. I loved the characters and found myself really intrigued by them. I loved the chemistry between Bas and Myst. Yes, Myst made some mistakes and kept secrets, but she had her reasons for doing it and her feelings for Bas never faded. I just couldn’t wait to see what would happen between these two; if they would be able to find their way back to one another. Overall, I really enjoyed Blood Lust. It was a quick and easy read for me. It hit all my marks and had me begging for more. As I previously stated, this was my first book by this author and after reading this, I can not wait to read more of her books in the future.

> 3 dayOkay, so this is actually my first book in the Sentinels series that I have read, but I LOVED it <3 I am definitely going to be reading the other 2 before it and definitely going to be awaiting anxiously for upcoming Sentinels books!! Bas & Myst were really great characters and their story was riveting one. Bas was a great father to his daughter Molly. Seriously, this once bad boy is brought to his knees by his baby girl and I loved watching their bond get stronger. Myst, she intrigued me the first time her character was introduced and I thought for sure I wasnt going to like her, but it turns out she did what she had to to protect Molly and that I understood. Bas & Myst had to get over the past and some other present issues, but their passion for each other was like fireworks going off. They just looked at each other and it was sexual tension like no other!! The secondary character Kaede, he was Bass right hand man, was a really great character. He is so secretive and I hope he gets a book, because I feel like there is so much more depth to his character than we actually saw. Alexandra Ivy knows how to write a story line that will keep readers intrigued and on the edge of their seats!! I am so happy that I took a chance on this series and I am very much looking forward to see what Alexandra Ivy comes out with next!!

> 3 dayThe Sentinels are monk-trained warriors who maintain order amongst the High Bloods, that is: witches, healers, necromancers, psychics, and telepaths. Bas Cavrilo is a renegade; he has broken ties with the official organisation to sell his talents to the highest bidder, within reason. Five years before, Cal had had a fateful encounter with the lovely Myst, who left him the daughter she had following that one time. Bas loves his daughter, Molly, with all his heart. Molly had been kidnapped the year before, and when Myst appears at Bas’ door, even though he never forgave Myst, he will do everything in his power to keep them safe, however his heart might be at stake… BLOOD LUST is the third book in Alexandra Ivy’s Sentinels series, and it can easily be read as a standalone, because Ms. Ivy explains everything subtly, concisely, and very clearly so that no one will be lost, and all will be thoroughly entertained. Ms. Ivy is an exceptional worldbuilder and storyteller, and BLOOD LUST is a perfect example of her considerable talents and why she is so successful at what she does. Bas and Myst’s budding relationship is built mostly on instalust, but handled so cleverly that I believed every single minute of it, besides their obvious love for their daughter. Bas is a terrific character: as macho as he is, he has a tender heart and is never pushy. Myst appears a fragile little flower, but she is at least as strong as Bas, and I loved how the dynamics between the two shifted as their relationship bloomed. Every character is exceptionally well fleshed out, and one of the most notable features of BLOOD LUST is the bevy of powerful female characters. I also very much enjoyed watching the shenanigans of a deliciously wicked – and very believable - villain. BLOOD LUST is positively riveting, the plot iron-clad; it’s a fast paced book, and well-balanced all around; everything blends fluidly. Best of all, the more the story progresses, the more gripping it becomes, and there was a fabulous plot twist. Of course everything made even better by Alexandra Ivy’s crisp and eloquent prose. Don’t hesitate for a moment: BLOOD LUST is worth every second of your time! I received a complimentary copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

> 3 dayMy oh my havent we come full circle! The villain (of sorts) Bas of Blood Assassin is now the hero in Blood Lust. Im calling him the not quite bad because as much as he was wrong for his previous actions, it was justifiable, sort of like justifiable homicide. *Snorts* Okay he was a previous bad boy but I still found him to be delish. Now he gets his own story...WooHoo! Hes still not quite a pristine member of society here but at least we get to find out why, and it turns out, hes actually a sweetheart. He takes care of his people and he adores his daughter. Myst is the mother of his daughter, Molly, and the one who got away. She has quite the sad story and is on the run from the Brotherhood. Id love to tell you what her story is but her secrets slowly unfold throughout the book. Let’s just say, she didn’t exactly leave Molly behind because she wanted to. Probably my favorite part about this whole series is the ping-ponging between Wolfe and the Mave. There is so much sexual tension, so much ‘no-no-no’ between these two that when they finally cave and give in to what they want, its going to be explosive. Now they arent the only secondaries I find myself enjoying. Kaede, Bas right-hand man. Whatta man, whatta man, whatta fine mysterious man! Weve gotten a peek at his story and Im guessing there is a bit more to him. Im reeeeeally hoping all my favorite secondaries get their own stories and HEA. (Hint-hint, Ms. Ivy!) Now I will admit, I put two and two together and figured it out fairly quickly what was going to happen. Really, I cant be the only one who figures once they hear Mysts story and that prophesy! And despite having guessed right, I still enjoyed how it all played out. Lots of excitement, mystery and some yummy sex keep everything rolling at a fairly quick pace. Not as much physical action this time around and the villains seem a bit dumber than I previously thought them to be. Nevertheless, I still thoroughly enjoyed Bas and Mysts story. Theirs has been my favorite of the series. Im all caught up to the Sentinels series and have enjoyed each and every book. The characters are great, the whole world of High-Bloods and Sentinels is riveting and the mysterious Brotherhood, hmmm, yes even they add to the story. It all makes for an exciting read that any paranormal fanatic can easily lose themselves in. I cant wait to see what happens next! I received this book from the JeepDiva for the express purposes of an honest review. The opinions and rating of this review are solely mine and in no way was I compensated. Stars - 4.5, Flames - 3

> 3 dayId read the prior books in this series (2 full books and a prequel novella) and I was interested enough to read more. I really enjoyed the focus on Myst and Bas as they are complex characters with layers. Ivy really moved the series along with this book and developed several side stories. This is definitely paranormal romance bordering on erotic. The world building is excellent in my opinion. I have a few minor quibbles with this book and the series in general. The cover art seems straight out of the 1980s....I cant believe anyone thinks this enhances the story. I also have an odd reaction to a diction choice the author has made. She repeatedly refers to characters as this female or that male as if they were livestock. This word choice is used heavily throughout the series and I find it off putting. Also, the character of Molly is painted in over-the-top angelic word-smithing which I found irritating and saccharine. Those issues aside, I found the book engaging and the adult characters worth my investment as a reader. Id definitely follow the series if it stays to adult characters.

> 3 dayBook three was as good as book two. I liked Bas in book two so I was excited to read about him and the mother of his daughter, Molly. Their story was both passionate and sweet and at times emotional. They had a lot of secrets that they needed to reveal (or at least she did) in order for them to move forward. Their search for an understanding of Mysts vision that foretold that she would create a weapon that would destroy Valhalla took them from Kansas City to France and then to Valhalla, so they had an adventure. Throw in the Brotherhood as the villains yet again; this time, run by a psychotic woman, kept the story moving along nicely. It wasnt dull or slow and I liked watching the cold mercenary/assassin Bas go from cold and angry to warm and protective of Myst. Molly played a role in this one more than in Blood Assassin. She ends up going to Valhalla to keep her safe while Bas and Myst seek out answers about her vision. She wins over the Mave and the Tagos, and she becomes a hostage to the psychotic woman who was the leader of the Brotherhood when she was arrested and thrown into the prison at Valhalla. She escapes her cell and finds her way to the nursery (accidentally) and when she meets Molly, she uses her to get Myst to come to her to give her the weapon she was supposed to create. I enjoyed the story and how it unfolded.

> 3 dayBas and Myst have alot of history its called Molly. Love the great interactions with other characters. Alot of heat between Bas and Myst. They work thru things and get happy ever after. Cant wait for the next story in this series. One last thing love can change some of the most ruthless people.
