> 24 hourIt’s not to hard to learn how to use if you read the directions. Picked up signals from at least a few mile radius with no additional modifications inside of an Aluminum sided home. I would invest in rechargeable batteries as an 8 hour use and you will need a new set.

> 24 hourThe Bearcat SC30R scanner fits in your hand and is very light weight. The learning curve is moderate as any to learn and I was programming in under a day. This scanner is a great first time scanner to own, you will not be disappointed.

> 24 hourI used to listen to AM talk radio first thing in the morning with coffee before work. AM radio at night before bed. I like being updated on news daily. Since I bought this scanner I have so much info on whats going on in and around my neck of the woods I am kept entertained and into the know. Before it gets in the media! Love it!!! Programing is very easy. I get police, fire, Ham, aircraft, CB, Wilco feed store, and more! My AM radio listening has been cut down by at least 75%. Only thing I wish it was able to receive digital as well. Those scanners are a little expensive for my budget right now. For the price this is a great scanner and am glad I bought it. :)

> 24 hourThis has nothing to do with product, only the way it was packaged. Who in there right mind would solely rely on a factory packaged item. There was not tape to speak of on it and thank god the little lock tabs held. I guess if the return in factory condition was a option if needed, it would be a stretch of imagination

> 24 hourCheck you areas system before buying. For my area it is not the right type of scanner. A $3 app worked much better for my area.

> 24 hourThis has to be considered a basic analog scanner. It seems to work well with good sensitivity. Programming is a bit tedious if you want to enter multiple frequencies. The most significant deficiency is that you cannot enter alphanumeric names for your banks and channels -- the only scanner Ive ever owned since the 1990s that didnt have that feature. Also note that the PC software for programming only works on a Windows PC, not Mac. They advertise something called Turbo Search but there is nothing in the User Manual that describes such a feature. UPDATE: I have returned the SR30C and replaced it with its better brother, the BC125AT. Amazon doesnt carry it (in the U.S.) but I found it for only a few dollars more than the SR30C on Walmart. (EDIT:: I see that Amazon now has the SC125AT). The BC125AT is essentially the same scanner as the SR30C but with MUCH better features (including alphanumeric channel labels) for only a few dollars more. It almost seems that Uniden intentionally crippled functions and features to make the SR30C a bit cheaper.

> 24 hourThis is a pretty decent, little scanner. Lightweight and pretty compact. Not bad if you’re just monitoring local municipalities (on analog stations) at home or in the car. What isn’t mentioned in the description is that this scanner CAN NOT access/program high-band frequencies over 512 MHz. There are some localities where I live that use the 800 MHz frequencies and I cannot program them into this scanner. Had I known that prior to purchase I wouldn’t have bought this.
