Worked fine, but the Close Detect feature is inconsistent when I tested it in both the 2m & 70CM bands. It does easily fit in a small radio pouch (provided the pouch is tall enough). Also, the programming software isnt bad, but I was disappointed that Alpha Tags (free text names for saved frequencies to monitor) is not supported in the software or the display. Id look at another model that has alpha tag memory channel support if considering this one.

Seemed to work well for nascsr. Used the computer to program it because typing in individual frequency for 50 drivers was taking forever. Had to play with the settings quite a bit to get adequate reception. Instructions could be a little more clear. Overall it did its job of picking up the NASCAR driver radio broadcasts.

The scanner itself is solid and easy to program. Have not tried the downloadable programming software because it is easy enough manually. I live in the suburbs and find the stock rubber ducky antenna to be inadequate for pulling in signals. A mobile antenna and a better rubber ducky have made a world of difference. Im sure this wouldnt be a problem in more urban areas. Good audio as well.

I was looking to monitor aircraft frequencies. Right out of the Box it started finding close by transmitters. With a little manual reading I learned how to store those found frequencies in the empty memory slots. A little more reading and I was able to scan the preprogrammed aircraft band. Little more reading I might find out what else it can do for me. Battery started beeping after 3 or 4 hours of use. It shut off little after that. Im going to monitor battery life on the 2nd set a little closer so I know how many spare batteries to keep with me. Its standard AA batteries so cheap and easy to find.

The only thing I dislike in this day and age of cheap miniature digital chips is there are no labels/tones for channels. Otherwise, if you only need to monitor conventional analog comms, not trunked, not digital, not scrambled, etc. this is a good scanner to carry around in lieu of a ~$400 one doing the same thing. Easy to program by hand or by a Microsoft computer. This scanner is pretty sensitive as well. After I programmed it by PC I let it run and it was picking up VHF high band comms in cities 10 to almost 30 miles away at a slightly lower elevation from inside the house with its stock rubber ducky!

Only works with analog. Most big cities are now using digital.

This radio is fine if you live in a small town or for sporting events but dont expect to hear anything more than a few miles away even with an outdoor antenna.

This low-cost scanner is easy to operate and the included computer interface makes programming frequencies in very simple. Battery takes too long to charge, but that may be due to the quality of batteries installed. Very handy for work.
