I was looking to monitor aircraft frequencies. Right out of the Box it started finding close by transmitters. With a little manual reading I learned how to store those found frequencies in the empty memory slots. A little more reading and I was able to scan the preprogrammed aircraft band. Little more reading I might find out what else it can do for me. Battery started beeping after 3 or 4 hours of use. It shut off little after that. Im going to monitor battery life on the 2nd set a little closer so I know how many spare batteries to keep with me. Its standard AA batteries so cheap and easy to find.

I purchased the scanner for my husband and hes having some difficulty only in the programming and use. But after he gets the operation part completely set up and tunes in to his channels he will love it.

I bought this to try because some reviews said it was good for beginners. Id have to disagree. No matter what I did, I couldnt get it to work. I tried just scanning but it didnt pick things up very often. Tried entering frequencies but couldnt get it to take. Not for me, I returned it.

The scanner itself is solid and easy to program. Have not tried the downloadable programming software because it is easy enough manually. I live in the suburbs and find the stock rubber ducky antenna to be inadequate for pulling in signals. A mobile antenna and a better rubber ducky have made a world of difference. Im sure this wouldnt be a problem in more urban areas. Good audio as well.

I’m a huge rail fan and I love that it’s got the different bands already programmed. Needed a little tweaking (meaning locking out spurious signals) and it does exactly what I need. I used it with an external antenna so I can sit in my car and have good coverage. Definitely recommend this little guy.
