This is pretty expensive technology for you what you get in your hand. What you get in support from TI and the educational market they now own probably justifies the price point. If you take the time to learn what the Nspire can do, you will be math literate for a long time.

I use this for AP Calc, and it is extremely useful. Because it is CAS, it has so many functions and can really help with homework if you know how to use it well. The battery life is a bit questionable however, as for mine, it goes down and up by 25% intervals. The battery only lasts a couple of hours for me, but that could be normal?

This calculator is awesome. It has issues doing some things that you could do with Mathways phone app, but this calculator is still amazing. I use it for my calculus class and it has the ability to solve Limits and Derivatives. Even if youre not doing hard math with it, if youre willing to learn how to use the calculator id recommend. The UI is kind of overwhelming admittedly so be mindful of that.

This thing is incredibly cheaply constructed and plasticy! The interface is ridiculously non-intuitive and the buttons barely work. Trying to use the touch screen is nothing if not nearly impossible. I had a TI-86 that worked great for over 20 years, and this thing is truly garbage by comparison. I would also like to review the reviewers of this product because I see this again and again. I couldnt understand how anyone could give this pos more than one star, so I looked at the four star reviews...The vast majority of people have really negative stuff to say about this pos, but they still gave it four stars!!!? People: you really need to grow up and give star ratings that reflect what you say not rate something high because psychologically you dont want to admit you got ripped off!

Im a mathematics guy. I love math. So I bought this calculator thinking that I would be able to write my own programs on it (I have moderate knowledge of programming languages), and be able to play around with this. It is without a shadow of a doubt the hardest calculator Ive ever used. Why cant I graph 3d in the graphing function?!? Why do I need to exit out of it and open a file, then add a graph, then select a 3d one?! Why cant I just hit the graphing function, select 3d, and be on my way? Why does it take numerous button presses and a lot of digging to find out how to switch between radians and degree?! Thats quite honestly the most common setting change, and its near impossible to find! Furthermore, I couldnt get the thing to register with my computer! It just wouldnt connect. I tried contacting their support (Amazons tech support and Ti directly) and both of them gave me instructions for the Ti84 plus! I had to return the calculator because of this. Look. If youre taking a calculus class. Stick with either a Ti36 pro (personal favorite), or if allowed, a Ti84 plus. If youre taking a higher than calculus class, or are a working professional, then be aware that this calculator has a massive learning curve to it. Just be aware of what youre getting.

Want to solve matrices of complex numbers? Its instant. Want to store values on the fly so you can plug them into equations? Use i_1 := ans and your last value is now stored as i_1 Want to write a formula on the fly so youre less likely the mess it up when doing it multiple times on an exam? coolFunctionName(x,y,z,p) := (x^2 - p*y/5)/(z(z+5/2*p). Now you can just enter your 4 variables coolFunctionName(var1, var2, var3, var4). Problem solved. I wrote a function that calculates parallel resistors. When you have 3+ parallel resistors, this is a huge time saver. This also lets you type out equations as you would write them on paper. Instead of just having a string of variables and symbols, you can clearly read your equation to reduce entry errors. Spend less time balancing parenthesis and more time getting work done. It does so much more than the TI-89. Solves problems almost instantly. There is a small learning curve because it works differently than other TI calculators, but it is so much quicker to use and so much more powerful. This latest version will even help with some rudimentary differential equations. It lets me focus on the material Im learning not spending unnecessary time computing tedious equations I mastered a year ago that are bringing minimal learning value/time spent. The programming language is still a little more rudimentary than Id like, but its very useful.
