Beautifully detailed sound, tight but not overpowering bass and balanced highs and mids. As an audio engineer I practically live in these. Can you mix on them? Hell yes you can! But I also use them for casual listening, because there is simply nothing better that I have tried in nearly 50 years of headphone experience, for ANY use. They are comfortable to wear for long periods and have replaceable ear pads and cable. But you should use a dedicated headphone amp to get the best out of them, as the headphone circuits of most hi-fi amps are crap. There are a lot of phones in this price range that claim to be pro, but few of them are, in my opinion. There is a reason that the HD600 model has been around for nearly 20 years now. They are the standard by which all others should be measured. They are the best.

Ive owned these cans before but never with a decent amp. They just seemed boring compared to my Grados. But hooked to the iFi Black Label, theyre dazzling. Compared to the HD800, theyre not as spacious. The soundstage is more intimate. But the flat response is anything but a bore. The speed of attack creates a terrifically detailed, textured presentation. The veiled top end is just flat treble. Unsweetened for effect, it makes the presentation cleaner. These cans can be cranked up louder to let in more lush mids and articulate, detailed bass. I own trendier cans - the HD800, the LCD-2C and the DT-1990. This $300 headphone, designed before most of todays top rivals were even on the drawing board, is a fierce condender. They dont just feel pleasant (which they do). They are surprisingly detailed and textured. They gave my old music a hard kick. I heard details Id never heard before - which would be nothing new with the LCD-2, the LCD-X or the HD800 - but to make that claim about Sennheisers long-in-the-tooth workhorse really makes me rub my eyes in disbelief.

Delightful! I chanced upon Brookos Reviews at head-fi.org. He wrote a very thorough article on his comparison of the Sennheiser HD600 and HD650. This was very helpful. I spent more on these headphones than planned, but Im glad I did.

I hate giving these headphones a 3 star rating. Ive been enjoying the HD600 since I received them at the beginning of Feb. 2016, but as of today I cant hear anything out of the left speaker.

I wont ramble on here for paragraphs, theres no use in it. I am a audio engineer and of course, music lover. These are the best headphones I have ever heard in their price range. You will not be disappointed in these whatsoever! I have owned these 2 or 3 weeks now and after 75 hours, they are burning in fantastic. Very tight bass/low frequency, beautiful mids, and mind blowing treble that makes you think Angels have come to play for you. I have around 7 pair of professional/audiophile headphones and these are as good as it gets in my opinion. Get a pair, you will be glad you did.

Ive owned quite a few $1000-plus headphones, including the Sennheiser HD-800s. Available at a very attractive street price, the HD-600 are a completely respectable headphone, especially when paired with a good dedicated headphone amplifier. The HD-600s are not the last word in detail, transparency, spatial character or bass reach and definition- but they are VERY GOOD, fairly neutral, having just a slightly dark presentation with good detail and unexaggerated, taut bass. They are also fairly comfortable, well made and pretty rugged. They are nice for classical, acoustic and electric jazz and - unless you are a BASS HEAD and require exaggerated bass- good for rock, techno, hip-hop, etc etc.
