Safety 1st Magnetic Cabinet Locks, 4 Locks + 1 Key

> 3 dayI consider myself pretty handy, especially for a woman. I have been assembling most of our furniture at home, including our kids bunk bed, our dining set, etc... When our son turned 12 months old and was climbing over the gates, we knew it was time to baby proof our kitchen. For our cabinets that were parallel to each other, we just purchased the knob locks, but for the individual cabinet doors, we purchased this. The instructions that came with it was very vague (especially the sticker method), so I ended up just ditching it and using my common sense -- use the tape measure/ruler to mark the screw holes. It took me 2 hours to finish all four cabinet doors, and I have never installed anything so frustrating before until I installed these. When they were finally installed, they worked great.

Greater than one weekThese locks work well and theyre super secure. Unless your toddler can rig up a reasonably strong electromagnet. But then youve got bigger problems. The locks can be set to stay open if the kids arent around and you need easier access. The magnetic key works fairly well. Installation isnt the easiest, and the paper template could be better. I had some cabinets where I just couldnt mount these locks and had to find alternatives. Still, as long as you can keep the key out of reach, these are about secure as toddler locks get.

> 3 dayLoved how easy it was to install and that you can leave it in the unlocked position for when baby isnt quite crawling yet. These installed quickly and I like them a lot better than the other odd plastic catches of other baby proofing items.

> 3 dayDoing the first installation takes a little time as there are specific steps and orders, but once you do it once it is very easy to do on the second, third, etc. They include a little sticker/paper thing that is used to guide where to install and drill holes. It is very useful and makes it pretty fool proof. I have actually bought 16 of these locks!

> 3 dayBest locks on the market... Magnetic key works through 1.5 of wood, has a bypass to disable if you will need constant access, and keeps the kids out. Please note the instructions work for a typical installation, but depending on your kitchen, such as drawers with a complete box and a seperate door face you may need to create your own mouting plan.

> 3 dayWorks as advertised. Be careful not to over-tighten the screws on the catches or they will crack (theyre plastic). If youre screwing these in by hand, you wont have this problem. If youre using a cordless drill, be sure to adjust your max torque settings appropriately!

> 3 dayi had originally purchased the safety first spring n release latch and that was a complete failure. some of them broke off or just got bent so it didnt engage the lock. so when i moved into a new home, i purchased these instead and what a world of difference! these are significantly more expensive, but its worth it. it can be a little tricky to open; you have to hold the key in just the right spot to get the magnet to unlock (you can hear it). however, once you get use to it, you can open it very quickly. and the other thing i really like about it is that you can manually switch it to a unlocked position which is nice if youre having to constantly open a drawer/cabinet; and when youre ready to have it locked again, just switch it back over.

> 3 dayWhen these works, theyre great. Weve had two issues: 1) They dont fit on all of our cabinets. It seems you need to have a certain type of drawer/cabinet for this to work -- like it needs an extra piece of wood sticking out of the inner side of the drawer/cabinet for things to align. So these wont work on half of our cabinets. 2) The one we put on our utensil drawer broke. And we replaced it with another one, and it broke again. Replaced, and broke again. I dont know if its a frequency of use thing, or if its because that drawer gets warm from having a heating vent right below it... suspecting the latter since it broke three times in just a few weeks...

> 3 dayThis is definitely trick to install - you have to be really careful not to drill through your doors! The magnet seems very strong. But, for our doors (laminate), to unlock this lock, we have to push the door closed while using the magnet to get it to unlock. And, one batch of the 4 four-packs we bought didnt seem to work very well. Everything is lined up correctly but if you tug on the door, it still opens. Theyre definitely prettier than the locks you put on the outside of your cabinets and dont pinch your fingers like other ones. And, the 3 four-packs that did work seem to work very well.
