Repticare Infared Ceramic Heat Emitter (100 watt)

> 3 dayI bought this to provide some extra warmth for my bird during winter. I use it along with the 8.5 inch dome clamp lamp from zoomed. It does provide nice amount of heat. I dont place it very near to the cage. It is placed 5-6 inches away from the cage with a perch perpendicular to it so he can move closer or away from it depending on how much warmth he needs.

> 3 dayI use this for a 55 gallon terrarium. I need to turn it on when the ambient room is under 70oF and it works well to heat the terrarium to over 100oF on the warm side. The down side I guess is that after several hours the whole room gets pretty warm.

> 3 dayGood if you want to even out the temps in your all-glass tank. As a bit of perspective, I have a 20 gallon long tank for a Beardie. A zoo-med 100 watt basking bulb keeps the basking area at around 100 degrees, cooler down the slope of the basking rock. On the cool side of the tank, no emitter leaves it about 70 degrees, and the heat emitter, placed over the cool side, raises it to around 85, perfect daytime cool temps. At night, the emitter, when placed over the basking rock, raises the temp to around 75. A couple lessons from this: this will not be very effective in a wire cage, except over very short distances. Likewise, expect it to be less effective in a larger tank. It works similarly to a basking bulb in a deep dome fixture by providing targeted heat. Never ever ever ever use it inside the enclosure, no matter what you see in online pictures. Use it exactly as you would a 100 watt bulb. These units are also distance champions; one should give you a couple years worth of use at least, as long as you practice correct usage.

> 3 dayPuts out good localized heat. Wont heat a large area, Im using a 120 gallon aquarium, but works well for basking. I have a reptile hammock about 8 underneath it and the iguanas love to lay under it.

> 3 dayMade a doghouse heater using this in conjunction with a line voltage thermostat and a brooder style reflector, protected the whole assembly with heavy gauge wire cloth. Works like a charm, even gentle heat for our dogs and should last for a long time. Its been keeping our dog house about 20 degrees above ambient this winter, even better when the dogs are in there and their body heat is added to the mix.

> 3 dayI cant rave enough about these bulbs. They are fantasic for nighttime use or providing extra warmth for reptiles. They also last a very long time. I prefer using these instead of the nighttime infared bulbs cause of their longevity.

Greater than one weekI like ceramic heat the best, that being said I feel like I have gone though these bulbs A LOT. Great heat but just doesnt last long. I have to say that it will last you longer then any others.

> 3 dayWe have a tortoise which comes from the desert. It is not good to let Ali, her name, to get to cold. We put this on her during the winter and we do not have to keep the heater high. She is happy and we are too.
