> 3 dayThis is a great projector, especially if you are using it for gaming. I was so impressed with it, I ditched the TV entirely. Its super bright. Great response times. Enough features. I have Fire Stick, Chromecast, PS4, and a direct connect HDMI all connected. But... It has handshake issues. This isnt the end of the world, but it does make it annoying enough that I reached to Optoma customer service to see if they had any resolutions. I ran across mentions of the issue in multiple reviews, including Projector Central. The main issue Im having is with a direct connection to my MacBook, Thunderboldt to HDMI. It basically wont hold the picture, constantly flickering. Ive tried multiple cables and converters, nothing works. Other reviews mention issues with the PS4 (Ive had none) or other devices. Ive had minor issues with the Chromecast, but not as much as the direct connection. I believe this is a firmware issue, not a hardware issue. Customer support basically brushed me off even after I sent them links to all the other references of the handshake issue. They suggested I send it in, since its still under warranty. I havent made up my mind on what Ill do with the unit yet. I dont want to send it back in, since theyll probably send me a refurb. I just wish Optoma would recognize there is an issue and look into it. They say they have no reported handshake issues. Well, Im reporting it. That said, this is a great projector for the money. I looked long and hard before upgrading. I settled on this one mainly because of the brightness and gaming aspects.

> 3 dayProduct delivered in good condition. An excellent projector. Very bright and was able to watch movies even with normal ambient lights on. Very satisfied with the purchase. Highly recommend this value for money projector.

> 3 dayThe first time the projector was turned on it produced these vertical lines internally. It could be affected by the housing. I noticed when I was pushing the buttons on the top surface to adjust the screen the lines would start to disappear when pressing a button. Pressing down the top surface made the lines go away, something’s the lines would stay away for an extended period of time. The lines always returned. Additionally the projector lens seemed to slide out of focus, ever so slightly, to where the picture was just out of focus and slightly blurry. I had to adjust focus about three times during the length of the very first movie we tried using it on. I was excited about the product but my nervousness with projectors in general was only validated using such an expensive one and having similar issues to a cheaper one.

Greater than one weekDespite the product image showing a 3D sync port, my device does not have one, rendering my 4 pairs of shutter glasses useless. It was the main reason I decided on this projector. However, the projector itself is very nice. The built-in speakers are pretty terrible, but that was to be expected. I bought 2 pairs of DLP Link glasses because I have so many 3D blurays, I didnt want to just not be able to watch them and we were all impressed with the picture of this device. For the price, it feels like a good deal to me. I was really impressed with the image quality watching Spiderman: Into the Spiderverse. There were many things I didnt notice watching on my 4K HDR TV. I dont even know how that is possible, but it is. This is not a 4k projector, but the detail in the image seems better than my 4K TV? Anyway, it is good value. There is a noticeable rainbow effect when moving my head, which was to be expected with a DLP projector. I would give it 4 stars if it came with the 3D Sync port as shown in the product photo. I assume it is something they fazed out in more recent production with 3D becoming less popular, but I was very disappointed: BUT the fam liked it enough as in to make it worth keeping for me.

> 3 dayWhen I received this item I replaced it with my Optoma HD27-E and it started to work fine. Then all of a sudden the screen began to flicker like the bulb was starting go out. I went on online to replace my projector and received a message unable to return contact Optoma Service. I then called Amazon and received the same advice from someone off shore. I then requested to speak to a Manager onshore and was transferred. When I spoke with the onshore Manager I told her what my issue was and she said she would help me. After I was finished she was very helpful and said that she would replace my projector immediately and that I should receive it within a couple of days, which I did within two days. I asked her why was I told by the offshore reps that there was nothing they could do for me, after I told them that the Amazon website said free returns. She said that there was a misunderstanding and that she would bring it to their attention. This only goes to show always ask the person at the top for help if you know you are within your rights. I have received my new projector, the color is beautiful and there are no flickers so far. I hope this will be helpful to others with the same type of problem.

> 3 dayHave used this projector for less than 100 hours total and already the connections are all shot. The projector no longer detects any device that is plugged into it--just endlessly says searching for source to no avail. Projector was great for the few months it worked but definitely not worth the money for only 90 hrs of total usage...HUGGGE disappointment. DO NOT BUY.

> 3 dayThe optoma hd39hdr is everything I was hoping it would be. Plenty bright to be able to watch it with some ambient light in the room. Beautiful clear picture. I’m sure for $1000 more you could get a better picture but for $750 I’m extremely happy with it. The only thing I don’t like is when I open different apps( I’m projecting an Xbox I use to stream hbo, netflix, etc.) it switches to a bright blue screen for a couple seconds. Not a big deal but a black screen or nothing would be less annoying. Sometimes I’ll catch a tiny bit of rainbow strobe but very rarely and never enough to bother me. My girlfriend had never noticed any rainbows.
