Greater than one weekThere is no way to switch from sound from the unit to sound thru an amplifier. I have it ceiling mounted and whenever I want to hear the units speaker I have to get the ladder, unplug the unit.

> 3 daySo I had a cheap Wimius projector I got for like $200. When I turned this projector on, it completely made the Wimius projectors picture disappear, thats how bright it is. This is True 4000 Ansi Lumens it is BRIGHT. The colors are vivid and beautiful. Its well worth the money. I also saw in the reviews the audio isnt good. I leave my volume on 1, its more than enough for a bedroom or living room. Anything more than 1 is kinda too loud for me. Obviously there are better prjectors out there in the $1000+ range but this projector will blow your mind if youre new to projectors. It looks just as good as my 4k 240hz UHD Samsung TV. Only complaint is, it get HOT. Almost too hot to touch. But that can be expected since its a damn light cannon!

> 3 dayAs few other reviewers pointed out - picture is grainy, dim around the corners, sharpness and keystone controls are useless, cheap packaging, flimsy plastic case that does not inspire confidence, no mounting holes for ceiling mount, remote control layout is unintuitive - good luck adjusting anything with lights off. Bought based on glowing reviews - should have done more research.

> 3 dayThe optoma hd39hdr is everything I was hoping it would be. Plenty bright to be able to watch it with some ambient light in the room. Beautiful clear picture. I’m sure for $1000 more you could get a better picture but for $750 I’m extremely happy with it. The only thing I don’t like is when I open different apps( I’m projecting an Xbox I use to stream hbo, netflix, etc.) it switches to a bright blue screen for a couple seconds. Not a big deal but a black screen or nothing would be less annoying. Sometimes I’ll catch a tiny bit of rainbow strobe but very rarely and never enough to bother me. My girlfriend had never noticed any rainbows.

> 3 dayWorked great for about 500 lamp hours/ 6 months, until the lamp broke. Its out of the return period, bulb warranty, and Optoma finds any reason not to honor their 1 year warranty. Its supposed to last about 3000 lamp hours, incase youre wondering.

> 3 dayIve been using projectors for about 15 years now. My latest was the Hd146X, I had it in a bad location and it regularly overheated and crapped out after 2 years because of my own fault. I bought the HD39HDRx as a direct replacement for it. at the time of purchase its only $30ish or so more than the 146x so I figure id try it. Things you should know, it has minimal features. Most significantly Keystone! you can ajust the keystone if the project is higher or lower than center, but if its (significantly) left or right of center DO NOT BUY THIS PROJECTOR!! There is no LEFT OR RIGHT KEYSTONE. Also if youre using it for gaming and need to use the heigh related keystone the keystone is disabled during gaming mode. Which is really weird. The Hd146x allowed for gaming mode and keystone. So basically if you cant have your projector close to center vertically and horizontally, any youre expecting to use keystone dont expect alot out of this. Its a height reletated keystone only, and it looks like a digital keystone which means it will crop the image, so youll lose imagine quality the more you keystone. If keystone is not a problem, and you can position your projector accordingly this bad boy is BRIGHT as heck! I would consider it one of the best values on the market for a bright 1080 HDR projector. If keystone isnt a issue I would not hesitate to get this thing, for budget home theater/gaming. IT IS BRIGHT!!! the brightest project ive ever owned, and should suit most peoples needs. Its even too bright at night with my screen. So the eco mode is more than bright enough for me. That means savings since the bulb will last longer. The bulb on my previous optoma projector lasted longer than the DLP chip 2+ years. So I expect its entirely possible this projectors bulb will last the estimated 4years. I would be happy with 3 though. Ive only had this projector for a few days, Ill update it if anything changes, but I really wanted to comment on the keystone situation for anyone considering this projector.

> 3 dayDespite the product image showing a 3D sync port, my device does not have one, rendering my 4 pairs of shutter glasses useless. It was the main reason I decided on this projector. However, the projector itself is very nice. The built-in speakers are pretty terrible, but that was to be expected. I bought 2 pairs of DLP Link glasses because I have so many 3D blurays, I didnt want to just not be able to watch them and we were all impressed with the picture of this device. For the price, it feels like a good deal to me. I was really impressed with the image quality watching Spiderman: Into the Spiderverse. There were many things I didnt notice watching on my 4K HDR TV. I dont even know how that is possible, but it is. This is not a 4k projector, but the detail in the image seems better than my 4K TV? Anyway, it is good value. There is a noticeable rainbow effect when moving my head, which was to be expected with a DLP projector. I would give it 4 stars if it came with the 3D Sync port as shown in the product photo. I assume it is something they fazed out in more recent production with 3D becoming less popular, but I was very disappointed: BUT the fam liked it enough as in to make it worth keeping for me.

> 3 dayI don’t know why this projector gets lots of good reviews but I really don’t like because of its picture quality. It was super grainy with bad color. It almost felt like I was watching a bigger version of a low quality video. And the machine is heavy and extremely hot when projecting. I don’t think it’s anything that I expected. They shipped me with one without lens cap so I had to buy a cap myself. Be careful if you have a high expectation on picture quality. This is no way what you want.
