The picture is great. Excellent for watching sports. The only thing is when you first start it up, you get an awful rattling noise that lasts about 60 seconds. Then it goes away and no more noise. Ive had it for about 2 months and no problem.

I purchased this about a year and a half ago and have been using it as my primary living room screen for TV and gaming. I first started noticing screen flickering and my first dead pixel around 1 year after purchase. Fast forward 6 months, and I now have dozens of dead pixels and the screen flickering has gotten so bad at times it can make me nauseous. Im now at the point where Im forced to replace the unit because its gotten so bad. Definitely would NOT recommend this product.

I tried out a couple less expensive (cheap) projectors before purchasing the Optoma. Ill just say you get what you pay for.... This one is 100% better than the others. Great picture, color is good, motion is good, and brightness is good. I have it projecting on a 150 screen and it looks great. Focus is good from corner to corner (the cheap ones you kind of have to pick which part of the screen you want to be in focus...) I havent tried 3D yet, but am looking forward to it. The projector was supposed to just be for fun to watch a movie on every once in a while, but has now become the go to every night.

Owned it not even a year and it has a dead pixel. Now there’s a bright white dot in the middle of everything. Absolutely ruins watching anything on it. It’s like having a white laser pointer pointed at the screen.

Had it for a month so far and very pleased, far better than the dated one I replaced. Bolted right up to old universal mount. I dont use the volume on it, so cant comment on that. As far as fan noise, we dont notice it when watching movies/playing games. Only downside: mine turned on without giving option for language, took me a while to figure out how to get it back to English...that and no directions in the box is really annoying...will update later if needs be.

This projector throws a great picture on our 120 screen, light interference is no issue - picture quality is fantastic, even with our Christmas Tree lit up right in front of it! No Bluetooth capability was a bit disappointing, we had to order a Bluetooth transmitter to connect to our Amazon Studio sound system. We havent had a chance to try that out yet, as the Amazon Studio speaker we ordered to provide the sound is on backorder and wont be arriving until Jan 3rd.

I shipped my unit for repair in Optoma California after 2 years, as it stopped turning on, and got a 750$ quote to repair a $700 projector. The customer service is really poor, they charged me $100 for the inspection and literally told me to buy a new one if that seems like a better option. Never again Optoma, I am going for an Epson or HP this blackfriday.

I just received the Optoma HD28HDR today and did a few things to test it out before final mount and setup. I tried the QR code for more detailed setup only to find Optoma says a HD28HDR doesn’t exist? It also states in the description that it has optical out, so I purchased a long optical cord to go along with it.... no optical out hookup! Only a 3.5mm audio out jack. The brief look into picture quality didn’t seem bad, but I’m pretty disappointed in the lack of information for the product from the company, and the misinformation on the description. I’m hoping I didn’t waste my time and money

I own a BenQ HT2050 too. This new Optoma is terrible! Remote doesnt work. Colors are wildly inaccurate. Overall the picture quality doesnt hold a stick against my BenQ. This is worth maybe $200. Horrible projector.
