hard to tell if this is a switch or a hub, because all the lights seem to flicker at the same time. but it works well for my home theater setup streaming 4k onto multiple devices

Ive used many Netgear switches like this and Ive never had a problem. Silent (fanless), low power and incredibly reliable. When the little lights blink and blink and blink and I know that data is flowing through those ports, sometimes I imagine that its trying to grab my attention as if it wants me to be proud of it. And I am.

It was a replacement for a 5 port

Went from using JUST the normal Xfinity xFi modem to the addition of this. Download speeds on my PC went up and the over all connections feel more consistent. Product is not big so it was easy to mount under my desk with some gorilla glue double sided tape. If youre going to get the 5 port, honestly spend the extra 3$ and get the 8 port. its a no brainer .

I have two RPIs connected to this switch plus home security, as my eero router, provided by my fiber ISP only had 1 extra port. It was as simple as plugging everything in and it just works. My suggestion to Amazon would be to be more clear on recommended combined purchases, as Im unclear if the recommended cables I bought can handle the full speed of this switch. My fiber line is 1 gig up and down, and speed tests to a singular connected device consistently are more around 300mbs. So while Ill try the right cable this time around, it might be helpful to provide that clarity and or do your research better prior to buying the suggested cat cables.
