Genie GSTB-R STB-BL Replacement Safety Beams, Black, 2 Pack, Black, one size (GSTB-R)

Genie GSTB-R STB-BL Replacement Safety Beams proved easy to install. The hard part was diagnosing the problem, which I was able to do with videos posted online.

I purchased this kit after one of my existing sensors (green LED sensor) was destroyed while part of the concrete floor of my garage was torn up and replaced. My existing sensors were the older square style. I simply unscrewed the old sensor from the wall and screwed one of the new sensors from this kit in its place making sure that I picked the correct LED color. The new sensor worked fine with the remaining older sensor. The instructions suggested detaching the sensor from its bracket by pulling them apart to make mounting the bracket easier. You do have to pull fairly hard, but they do just pull apart. I received Model GSTB-BX which is the paperboard boxed version of the sensors while the GSTB-R is the retail plastic packaging currently pictured. The packaging really doesnt matter though, the contents are the same.

We have had the safety beams ever since we moved in and of course we kicked one once and basically destroyed it. I ended out fixing it by soldering the wires to the PCB but it finally broke 2 days ago and wouldnt come back on no matter what I did. So I had to override the sensor to get the door down and couldnt close it from my car. I ended out ordering these as it says works with any model which is not true. They are only designed to work with 1993-current garage door openers. I got lucky but the instructions that are provided dont work for my opener. I have the old style 2 pin plug in where the instructions are for the screw type. Ended out just splicing the wire and all is fine at least for now. Only took me about an hour to install. Pros: Easy to install Work well Cheaper than other replacements I found for the old square ones Cons: Kit doesnt include wire(had to go buy some which added another $7) Doesnt work for all openers only 1993+

This was a perfect replacement for the faulty sensor. Easy to install and worked as they should.
