I bought the sand for my 4 hermit crabs and glad I did! It’s so much better than the sand from the pet stores. And they love it! Will be buying more in the future. I bought 2 bags and it was enough for my 5 gallon tank.

So Ive tried every medium thats conducive to my hermit crab and although coconut fibers are a good option...i truly felt like my crab took to this medium better than normal because he instantly buried himself into the sand lol anyways this is a great medium for hermit crabs

I bought this for my hermit crabs about a week ago. They seem to love it, and bury themselves frequently. I use it to keep the humidity up so its moist and sticks to them a lot, but thats to be expected with sand. Overall Id say it is a good product, but i cant say if its easy to clean because its not time for a deep clean yet.

So far it works much better than using the stone, and my crab seems to like it. My crab is now over a year old so I would recommend the sand.

Cant speak much for the hermit crabs! But they seem to be happy and theyre still alive. Actually theyre much more active and thats a good thing.

The bottom three are the bags I received, the top one is what I bought at the store. I normally love this sand, but the stores run out so fast that I thought Id order it. Big mistake. The ones I received are so much darker, and when I opened one it had a soft decay smell, different from the normal sand. And the texture is... softer? Not as sand like, not quite soil or mud like either, but its not right. Its almost as if the cocoa fiber in the sand has decayed. That or the product was just so old and stored very wrong/contaminated. Either way I dont feel safe putting this into my hermit crab tank. They can be sensitive creatures while molting and I dont want to risk their health. I would return them, if I trusted amazon to not send them to someone else for their hermit crabs. Lesson learned DO NOT buy substrate online, see it in person. Hopefully it was a fluke, but all three being like this seems a little unbelievable to be that uncommon. And now, due to not wanting someone else to receive this product, and not wanting to use it myself, Im out $22+. Not as bad as it could be, but could have gotten another family member a present for the holidays. Or safe hermit crab substrate. Very disappointed.
