I have to say, that since I put this sand into my hermit crab tank they have actually seemed more active and HAPPY if thats possible?? HAHA. Im not kidding! Its like they LOVE this sand for one reason or another. I saw the two of my crabs sitting there, facing each other with their little antennas going crazy. Hopefully theyre not stroking out or something. If they are, Ill update this review. but as for right now, Im serious...this stuff seems pretty good.

This was already at sand castle consistency when it arrived. I had planned to boil it and bake it but since it has added probiotic I decided to trust that it would be clean so as not to kill the added in good bacteria. I ordered 2 and used about 1 1/2 of the bags. I have a 10 gallon tank filled half way up with coconut fiber on one side and sand on the other. If I wasn’t creating slopes I would have needed that other 1/2 of my second bag.

Packaging suggests adding PURIFIED water to sand to aid in packing into enclosure, but as the sand was already wet when it arrived, I had to bake it in the oven until dry before I was comfortable using it. Curiously enough, a secondary item I purchased also arrived damp. Not sure whats going on at the local warehouse, the fire was 2 months ago.

The sand was wet and extremely dirty.I found hairs and a damn cockroach inside it.

I really cant say enough about this substrate. It is exactly as described and works really well.

This produce is FARR too expensive. Do yourself a favor and don’t buy it. You can buy 50 pounds of play sand from Home Depot for 5 dollars and it’s more or less the same product, it’ll last you much longer.
