    Greater than one week

Made a great substrate for my Cichlid tank. Helps PH levels, keeps water clear.

5/27/19-I had bought this before for my short 40g fry tank . So I bought one for my tall 55g I love how they look but it seemed to stress out the fish when first added. It does get cloudy but on my 40g that went away completely in about a week, but I did forget to rinse the substrate. I rinsed this one thoroughly and did a 75 % WC on 55g and it got rid of most of the cloudiness. It looks pretty good, 2hrs later. Hopefully I dont lose any fish. Keeping peacocks. The black gravel isnt bad, and it usually sinks to the bottom or middle of the substrate to ensure proper bacteria colonization Im guessing. Ive had all home depot sand before about 3 to 4 inches thick and would get dark spots if you didnt clean it on a weekly basis and move the sand around to get benificial bacteria to the bottom of the sand, that was a pain in the a..

Good looking sand from what I got. I originally bought 2 20lb bags and I got one and the other had a big hole in the side of it and was leaking everywhere

THIS SAND IS NICE SIZE AND WORKS VERY WELL . CLOUDED THE WATER A BIT BUT CLEARED UP IN A COUPLE DAYS . I RINSED IT BEFORE ADDING IT TO THE TANK AS I DO WITH MOST SAND I ADDED . I HAVE A MIXTURE OF 4 DIFFERENT SANDS IN MY 135 GAL. AQUARIUM .

I had switched from a. 25 gallon tank to a 70 gallon tank and I set it up the same way as my last aquarium. And while changing my water one day, all my gold fish has suddenly died. And I noticed a fungus on the very bottom. I had went to a aquarium shop to ask for support. And they had told me to stop using gravel, start all over, and to start using the African sand. What I like about it is it’s very light and looks much nicer than gravel. In addition to the beautiful natural looking color, what I don’t like about it is because it’s so thin it has clogged up 2 of my gravel cleaners. so now I get to figure out something else to use, when changing the water in my tank.

I have ordered 2 bags in the past that were great. The latest bag was mixed with another product they sell, eco-complete, which is not what I wanted.

If you keep fish from the East African Rift Lakes, you need to buffer the water to maintain high pH. Either you add chemicals or you use the right substrate. Believe me, this is far easier. Its good stuff, it looks right, and its a good price.

Package came damaged with contents leaking out. Looks nothing like the picture in the description, its fine sand, not gravel as shown
