Carib Sea ACS00223 African Ivory Coast Sand for Aquarium, 20-Pound

I don’t have fish yet for it but I cleaned a smaller amount of sand in the sink in a clear bowl until it was almost clear by just turning/folding the sand in running water. The bag has directions to cut both corners and insert a hose so it can be cleaned that way but that would be really heavy.

My assorted Cichlids LOVE this sand! I would recommend 2 bags for a 55 Gallon tank depending on how much or if any plans to get a nice landscape view.

My cichlids absolutely love this sand. I love seeing them interact with it and dig their little holes. There was very little waste when rinsed, and it was shipped quickly. Awesome!

Meh... it ok but its not sand. It appears to be a very light weight mixture of crushed lava rock and pumice stone. Very difficult to plant in and decorate. Also very very dirty. It takes a lot of rinsing. Comes with clarifier which is a good thing. Ill be removing this and replacing with natural river pebbles when cleaning time comes.

Beautiful gravel! Yes you do have to wash it.It took me around 30 minutes of brisk scrubbing to have the water run clear or rather as close to clear as possible.My filter handled the rest and took overnight to settle,but now the water is crystal clear.Perfect for cichlids! I cant stress enough how happy I am with the look,and feel of this gravel.On a note the negative reviews,about having to wash the gravel imo are given by people that thought a little rinsing would cut it.With a gravel/sand this fine It takes a serious washing to remove the dust, but anything great is work a little extra effort, and this is a fantastic gravel.

Nice mixture, this is a very fine grain sand FYI. It is also a mixture of pure white and pure black. Some sands say they are white but are actually beige or off white, this sand is actually white.

Highly recommend this substrate if you have chem balancing issues in your cichlid tank.

Easy setup for new aquarium

I love it!!!!! Is the perfect grain of sand that I’ve been looking for. I have this in my all of 7 cichlid tank from 10 gallon to 125 gallon. It does takes some times to washed it, but after, the result, I was extremely happy with the sand I got!!!!!! I love the black and white look and my cichlids seems to love it too. I would recommend it.
