Weather is finally getting better so I can get going on blacksmithing. This metal will be great for starting a knife and other projects.

Perfect 1095 steel flat stock for knife making. My son forges with his uncle and these 4 pieces of 1095 steel flat stock were definitely appreciated by both. They used them on a project and said it worked very well.

Its shiny, its hard, its magnetic, seems to be exactly what I ordered. Im no expert in making sure its exactly the type/hardness its supposed to be, but either way its steel, and the dimensions are correct. Came packaged well, no moisture, no rust. Ill be sure to update this review after working with some of the pieces, but Im sure Ill be just as pleased with it then as I am now. If you need some small pieces of flat stock for making things, this will do just fine.

These came as expected. They were well packed and oiled for shipping. The material was very consistent and I look forward to making blades with it. Were playing with the hardness tests and making our knives this weekend. This passed the snap test. It was properly annealed and we shocked it and got the expected result.

My son bent a piece in half with his bare hands. He tried to forge one of the pieces into a knife, but it was too thin to work with very easily.

These pieces are great, very little cleaning up before using them. I dont personally forge, I got these for welding practice, but they are cleaner than the steel you can buy just about anywhere. Most of that takes a decent amount of work to clean off, but not these. Im sure forgers would appreciate it too. I have no idea if they are the steel they say they are, but certainly seem to be excellent steel.

This is exactly what it says it is. According to my calipers the dimensions are pretty spot on. I ordered these to make a cpl knives for holiday gifts, just havent been able to get in my shop lately. Hopefully Ill be able to update with a photo of a finished knife soon made from this blade stock. Happy Shopping.

These Steel Bars came wrapped in anti rust paper and then in a tightly packed bubble wrap mailer. The steel bars had no rust and only very minor surface scratches. All three of them are the same size and they are straight with no bow or twist. I did a grind test on them and they do seem to be high carbon like they say they are. Overall, I am quite pleased with how they were packaged and the general quality of the steel.

Package contents as described. Mostly flat, smooth, ready to turn into something useful like a knife. No rust - well packaged in that regard. I was a little disappointed that these were shipped without an other box. They all have a slight bend to them, probably from shipping abuse. Certainly not a ground flat item as received, but these also were not advertised to meet that standard.

As others have noted, the dimensions of this 1095 flat stock are slightly under the claimed size for all measurements. However, for a beginning knife-maker, this is a convenient source for an annealed high-carbon steel. This flat stock is pretty well-suited to making a cut-out knife, but rather thin to start with for a forging technique. Circling back to the idea of being a good fit for a beginning knife-maker, though, this offers a chance to refine your grinding and shaping techniques without the complexity of making a full-forged blade.
