Great lather, love the fragrance. Not too strong, not too old man or feminine. Seems like it will last forever. I only use a few swirls and the lather is thick and creamy.

I had no idea what this was going to smell like except old barber shop from the reviews. It is SUCH a good smell; it is satisfying and rich. the lather is great, and easy to build up even with hard water. I am a first time soap shaver, and I am going to have a hard time trying anything else after this. Buy it, the smell is not a problem at all (in fact, I find myself opening the cover sometimes and just smelling it). the bowl is nice and heavy duty, although I was expecting a wood cover, but it is plastic. I dont mind though. It looks to me like this stuff is going to last me a while, bummer ;).

This is my favorite shave soap by far. The lather it produces is outstanding; its slick, thick and smells great! The scent is the best part; hard to explain the smell but whenever I use it the entire upstairs of my house smells like Tabac! I’ve used it with badger hair and boar hair and both performed great!

Really lathers up quickly, about 30 seconds and its ready to go. Moistens up your beard and keeps it that way for the entire shave.

I have a vast collection of soaps and creams and other shaving gear-I am definitely into this as a hobby as well as for grooming. With that said, Tabac remains a top choice for me. The scent is simply a love it or hate it. It will offend some people, and others will swear by it. However, I dont think anyone can argue the performance...the lather is very high quality, easy to build, has a nice consistency, and is extremely slick. Also, it will last a LONG time. I recommend trying to smell it prior to first buying it, but if you like the scent you will LOVE the soap.

Like other low-star reviews have said, this stuff smells absolutely terrible. I was trying to put my finger on exactly what it reminded me of for a long time, but it hit me just recently - it smells like an old folk’s home. A combination of baby powder and just a hint of literal human excrement. The container it came in is kind of cool, so I’ll be scraping the rest of the soap straight into the garbage and keeping the jar for miscellanea.
