> 3 dayLet me start off by saying if any of you are thinking of getting the m50x by audio technica over these please read this. I own the m50x myself and these sennheiser 598s in both the closed and open back versions (598cs if interested in looking up the closed backs) I purchased the closed backs first on accident meant to get the open backs and didnt even realize they sold a closed back until I received them. I will say the closed backs sound just like the opens just a little, very little less soundstage, hard to notice at first but they are by far the best set of closed backs I have tried. I am blown away by both I havent touched my m50s since, I thought I was still going to use them for movies because everybody says they have better bass than the sennheisers what do you know people attached to brands rather than quality will believe they have a great product because of the name on it and what other people say about it. The m50s definitely have a place out there for something Im sure but if you arent sure you love them then try the sennheiser first you wont be disappointed. I have tried the open backs with music of course, gaming on Xbox one, and movies I give them 5 stars in all of those categories I think Im going to adventually get the 600 or 650 and sell off all of these sets I currently own.

> 3 dayExcellent sound clarity. And bass is adequate for listening. Not too much of thump. Though it dereves all 5 star but giving 4 because sennheiser has not provided a cover for the headphones. If u are spending 19 k for headphones it ought to come with a headphone cover.

Greater than one weekI bought the Audio Technica ATH-M50X because of all the good reviews they got. They are truly horrible. I want to throw them down on the floor and stomp on them. Bass is boomy and muddy. The mids are overbearing and the highs are shrill. They got such good reviews. I dont get it. So I bought the Sennheiser HD 598. Im happy to say I love them. They have a very pleasant and natural sound. Beautiful sound stage. Also very comfortable. Only problem is they are an open back design so I can still hear my wifes voice. But thats a different issue..

> 3 dayIt is awesome and even more awesome when you get them at a steep discount on Amazon Day. Be warned though! I fear that having the HD 598 and ATH-M50 with the Fiio E10K is becoming a siren call to leave the world of medium-fi and enter the ridiculously overpriced hi-fi scene just to hear how much better the sound can be. I dont know how long I will resist before I move up. Seriously though it is an open headphone (cannot take them to a library unless you keep the volume very low) giving an large soundstage. It is very comfortable with the velour pads. The open back design prevents your ears from getting too hot. The sound resolution is also great with a more analytic (truer) sound signature. I believe that the HD 598 complements the ATH-M50 perfectly (closed headphone, ears get hot, still excellent sound resolution with an emphasis on highs and lows giving a fun sound as opposed to an analytic sound). For the vast majority of people, these two headphones coupled with any external DAC will be more than enough for sound quality for the very, very long time.

> 3 dayI have 3 closed back headphones which are Shure SRH840, Audio Technica ATH-M50x & Bose QC 30. This was my 1 st time buying an open back headphones. I had seen all positive reviews of these headphones and I must say they live upto expectation. They are really comfortable with effortless sound reproduction. All instruments comes out well with no sibilance whatsoever. You will not feel fatigued even after long hours of listening. The best part is the soundstage. Its wide as it should be for an open back. I find myself using these headphones the most along side the shure. I also use these while playing CS GO. These are actually the same as the 20k game one from senns just without a mic. So yes, highly recommended. Built quality is all plastic but very high quality. The kind youll find in high end cars. Also they are quite lightweight. If I had to point out one con it would be the padding in headband. The surface area of padding could be more, its not uncomfortable by any means but a little more surface area would have made these headphones just perfect. Edit- They actually fixed the headband padding in the newer SR model of these same headphones but the newer model is currently not available and even when it will be available, it will surely be more expensive than this one. So unless you can find the newer model for the same price(not gonna happen anytime soon) you should go for these.
