Sennheiser HD 560 S Over-The-Ear Audiophile Headphones - Neutral Frequency Response, E.A.R. Technology for Wide Sound Field, Open-Back Earcups, Detachable Cable, (Black) (HD 560S)

This is the first pair of headphones I’ve had that are specifically made for audiophiles and enthusiasts, and I now understand the difference between these and “everyday headphones”. These are also the first pair of headphones I’ve ever used that are open-back. Open-back headphones are unique in that the rear of the ear cuff is open (the side facing away from your ear) so that soundwaves have somewhere to go, instead of being confined and trapped inside the ear cuff. This produces an effect that is more akin to listening to a live performance, rather than having a set of headphones cover your ears. This does mean that others around you can hear what you are listening to more easily. However, your ears are still closed-off somewhat. The best way I can explain this is that it’s not like having a window fully open, but just cracked open a bit to let some air in/out.

I am overall pleased with the sound quality and snugness of these Sennheiser headphones.

Great neutral, analytical sound. Some may find the 560s boring but is a flavor.

Sounds just as good as my 2 year old Sennheiser HD Headphones, but its literally half the size of the old one making this thing feel cheap and tight around the ears. Like have 2 plastic cups pressed hard on the sides of your head.

Since spinning vinyl and trying wireless through Bose. Nothing compares to using these wired headphones. Great sound. As yoursoundmatters states and the main reason I purchased The HD 560S is tailored for audiophiles, with an open-back design for natural, expansive sound. The bass response is fast and crystal clear, while the treble has plenty of crisp clarity—hands down, some of the most honest sounding headphones in their class.

Ive only used this for less than 10 minutes but its already blown my head away. I was unsure of which headphones to get, the 58x or this, the 560s. After heavy contemplation I decided to get the 560s because of free shipping and it was just slightly more than the 58x.

I wanted quality headphones for both movie and music listening. I’m no audiophile, but I know quality sound when I hear it and this set met my expectations. I have tried (and returned) numerous pairs over the years and I’m glad I continued the search till I found these. Oh, and also comfortable. I can listen for long periods and actually start to forget I even have them on.
