SAMSUNG T5 Portable SSD 1TB - Up to 540MB/s - USB 3.1 External Solid State Drive, Black (MU-PA1T0B/AM)

My old USB2.0 SATA drives took 5 hours to backup 310GB. This Samsung drive took 40 minutes using USB3.1 and USB 3.1 cable. I now own a dozen harddrives >500GB that are now doorstops. This drive is so tiny: about 10 playing cards stacked up, I can carry 3-4 in a shirt pocket.

This thing feels like its part of the PC. Im more on the amateur/enthusiast side of video editing, but my MBP can render videos close to the same speed on this SSD as it can with videos in the internal drive. Its not an NVMe or anything, but its well worth it for moving around devices and traveling. Additionally, you can connect it to android phones with USB C, and while I have not tried it, i hear it works with PS4s.

Works as advertised except included cable repeatedly works its way free from my 2016 MacBookPro. Ive tried every one of the four ports and the problem continues.

Was using this as a Time Machine Backup for my MacBook Pro. It worked fine for five months then simply stopped working. Couldnt read or write to it. Showed as an uninitialized disk. I could not format or access it from other machines either. $170 brick.... No apparent way to get refund or replacement form Samsung but Amazon did refund my money.... Product is a 2 star Amazon serve was a 5 star

On day four of operation, this hard drive decided to completely erase itself and all of my company data I had stored on it. Thankfully, I had most of what was on it redundantly backed up, but I lost a whole day of work and several Lightroom catalogs.

I plugged this into my Mac, formatted it to fat32, turned on time machine and now have a full backup of my Mac. Dont know why some Mac users are having an issue. Worked flawlessly for me. Maybe they didnt format it.

Installed in my mid 2012 MacBook Pro as my hard drive was beginning to fail. I used Super Duper to clone my old hard drive to the new Samsung T5. Also purchased a Samsung 860 Pro SSD, both 1 TB. Easy transfer which took around 3 hours. Computer runs like new!

I am not sure if this is legit or not, I trust Amazon and they did give me a full refund, but I did a test with h2testw and it gave me this report.
