The 870 EVO is truly a fantastic upgrade for an older computer! I put one in our desktop and in my old laptop. In both cases, it is almost like having a brand new machine! Super-slow boot times are gone! The hard drive access time that slows your computer is virtually erased with the SSD. You do need a USB-to-SATA cable if you are transferring your old hard drive data, but the Samsung software makes the process amazingly simple.

Best SSD I ever bought! Definitely Ill buy some more of these to keep upgrading some other devices.

If I had to speculate, I would say the later batch of 870 Evo are a slower than both 860 and 870 from before.

Trying to write anything more than ~20GB consistently causes the drive to stop responding. Have to reboot for the drive to respond again. Got a replacement drive from Amazon shortly after first purchase, but the replacement had the same issue.

Samsung SSD is a good value... affordable 1T capacity... simple to install... bringing new life to an old 12 year old laptop with a 500GB Hard Drive mfrd in 1994 (yep that was on the label when I pulled it out - eeeks!). Samsung Instruction booklet is tiny type and contains minimal info, so if youre not near sighted, it becomes a real strain to read (even with glasses). But it has whats most important... Samsung Website Info which has the necessary software downloads that makes swapping out drives super easy. My machine launches 5xs faster (hated looking at that little spinning wheel) and launches programs at a speed I havent seen in years! YAY!!! I would highly recommend this SSD to anyone who will listen to me.

Made my older laptop work better than it did new. The old hard drive was in such bad shape that it would take 2 hours just to turn on. With this one installed it takes less than 30 seconds and you’re up and running.

My friend advised me to buy ssd samsung and I did not regret it. The speed of its work is simply impressive.

Doesn’t work. Period.
