Oatey GIDDS-173390 43539 Replacement Flange Forcast Iron, 4 Inch, PVC

This worked perfectly to fix my (c. 1890, 130 year old) corroded 4 cast iron flange. I measured the inner diameter at about 3.8; I needed to work at it a bit with a chisel and wire brush in a drill to get the rust and scale out, and then it fit right in. The old top of flange was close to flush but just higher than the finished floor; the new top of flange with this installed was about 1/4 or 3/8 above finished floor. The Sani-Seal foam ring Id bought would not fit with this new flange height, but a 1 wax ring worked perfectly.

The product itself is good quality and there is no doubt that many people have found this useful; however, it is not appropriate for all applications. The inside of my cast iron pipe was bumpy and rusty. I was able to smooth out the inside of the pipe with a wire-brush disc that attaches to my cordless drill but this was not easy and took a lot of time. Fortunately I did not have to use another product but if I had to do it over, I would have bought the Oatey 42255 165 Cast Iron Flange, 4-Inch since it attaches to the outside of the cast iron pipe. Fabulous solution to a real dilemma associated with the process of old house upgrades. And its well designed, easy to install and less than half the cost of H Depot.

Worked great, did what it was exactly intended to do. Very, very easy install. Just make sure its aligned, and measured from the wall for correct rough in.

worked out perfect, make sure you screw it down to the floor before expanding the seal so it dont slip...very nice product...altho I did find it a few dollars cheaper at home depot.

This thing was/is amazing. Fit perfectly into the cast iron pipe and tightened as tight as the old cast iron flange used to be. Toilet is as tight as it could be and it doesn’t wobble anymore!!! Very happy with this....

Easy to install almost for any situation, and works like charm. Superb design.

Worked far better than the crappy units at the home improvement stores. I installed one of those in another bathroom. It was difficult to get to work well, to say the least. This one worked great. Worth ever cent. Im thinking of going through the hassle of removing the other one to replace with one of these.
